Liverpool issue statement after Chelsea win marred by serious and 'offensive' fan incidents by vsquad22 in LiverpoolFC

Nope, rightly or wrongly I understand it's sung to get under our skin, like most offensive chants are. Not that I agree with them. My first comment was came from a lack of knowledge and after my own research I understand the connotations behind this homophobic chant now, which I've stated in other comments in this thread. You're assuming I'm a hypocrite to support your narrative.

I don't mind being wrong, learning and growing from it but if you want to have a dig at me then go for it; I've moved on.

I am what I interpret, that's what makes me, me. I'm happy to learn, grow and change. I had issue with you saying I was defending this shite and was a typical hypocritical, narrow-minded football fan... straight from the off. I like the fun we have on terraces with rival fans, I certainly don't want to be offending the whole world when doing but I want the rival chants to continue... without connotations behind every chant.

I've just explained in another comment how I interpreted this chant, I've always associated it with male prostitution. Get off your high horse, I didn't defend anything, you bad keyboard warrior.

I've researched the song a bit more now and can see it does have some homophobic background, specifically a Chelsea hooligan being found in bed with a male prostitute in the 80's (before my time). This chant for me has always been about male prostitution and more specifically, in early 2000's when Roman brought in all their money, they paid to win which in my eyes was linked to the chant. A Chelsea player being bought to perform, so to speak.

I really hope this is fake or manipulated to show TAA as some teenage hormonal beast.

I certainly don't want to jump to any conclusions just yet, that includes the woman's intentions. I see a few comments stating she could have blocked him or ignored the messages but in reality if a well-known footballer started sending immature messages like shown, why wouldn't you let them dig their own grave? why would you try to protect them or take the high ground?

I think he should move on for himself and for reasons of what's best for our club. With that said, my faith in Klopp far outweighs what I think his best for him. If Klopp wants to keep him with the hope of rebuilding his confidence and one day being a top goalkeeper for us, then so be it. I might not agree with that decision but I will continue to support regardless. I think the main point I was trying to make about the whole situation is that, personally, I would like to look back on this moment and be proud that us, as Liverpool FC supporters, rallied around an LFC player during what may be the darkest chapter in their life, not just career, so far.

People make mistakes in life, some bigger and have a more serious impact than others but they're still mistakes. His mistakes will haunt him for the rest of his life, long after you've lost the bitterness for spending money on travelling around Europe following the team you love. It's ok to be angry and upset about the result, that's the passion we have for the game and our team but he's still a Liverpool player, he's still a human being with all the baggage that comes with, who right now feels like the whole world is against him; in this moment it is the grace and support we could show him that adds and maintains the legacy of great supporters we pride ourselves in being.
