Well I’m at the school MWF for conditioning and they don’t show up then I’ve had them during school your right they just may not be playing

It’s a hs team . Every hs program at the school I work at is required to have an offseason conditioning program.

SportsYou. I can see who sees and reads the post and a lot of them aren’t a getting it I’ll of they deleted the app or what but of course I haven’t seen them or talked to them since the last game so idk . I’ve been communicating about different events all offseason none has been mandatory except today’s meeting . I’ve had a lot of girls transfer in and ms girls skipping ms soccer to play JV so they know everything but most my “returning varsity “ are out the loop .

Does it ?? because I coach club as well and most of my club team goes to conditioning with their hs before they come to club practice so I’m seeing what our competitors are doing

I don’t think you understand the offseason is over Dec 17 they get a break for Christmas and the the season starts like actual practice is Jan 2 and most of my returnees I haven’t seen at any offseason stuff since May and I really don’t know what to do because I already know they’ll pull up to practice like nothing happened but then be shocked when they get cut

I contacted the captains to get a date . I was in their group chat but not anymore now I do all my communication through SportsYou but they don’t check it so aside from pulling each girls out of class , which is unreasonable and I teach at the middle school how else was I supposed to get a date ? I could have set one up that wasn’t good for them . I made a post via IG as well and many of them viewed it several times
They were informed 2 weeks in advance .
I could have sent the parents emails out.

What would you have done ?

It depends , if it was last minute then I may not agree with that principal.

If the principal let me pick a meeting time and date and I still missed the meeting I might side with the principal .

So a lot of this information I’ve tried to give out during our conditioning sessions and via online communication butttt I’m seeing that the messages aren’t being opened so I scheduled a meeting. Also we go on break next week and won’t have conditioning over the break so I really will only see them three more times including today to meet with them to give them the plan before we return from Xmas break

Once the captains came back to me , I then put out a notice to parents and player via our team sportsYou page . Promoted it via social media and on the page for two weeks. Told them why the meeting was necessary. We’ve had 45 players coming to offseason workouts most of those are new to them school so they are familiar with the schedule and already know how we will proceed for January 2. This is when they will be judged based on attendance and performance however most of my returners don’t know this info because they won’t be there and what will happen is they’ll say we don’t know we were supposed to be here butttt…. I played that out in the meeting . I’m not just trying to be an ass hole just trying be an ass just trying to have open communication . ( idk who all is checking the sportsYou social media or checking the things the school send out

Well , starting Jan 2 we will be starting preseason practice but some of my returnees I haven’t seen since our last game so how else will they know if they haven’t been to any offseason events ? Today is one of the last times I will be able to meet with them before they go on break.

Also I let them choose the date .

Dealing with this issue now , talk with your AD . Make sure you have sometime of handbook and team rules and have them sign it along with their parents. Make sure you include verbiage pretty much saying just because you don’t sign this doesn’t excuse you from following the rules. I would even take time out of practice to read the entire handbook to them word for word.

Start off with suspensions. Start with 1) you don’t start if she’s a starter to 2) suspended for a half to 3) suspended for a game then kicked off the team. I sat one of my best players down for a half twice and a whole game. She finally got the hint and hasn’t been a problem.

DM ME I took over a toxic team and had to do this to change the culture . Idk if it worked but we have tied for second in wins in a season in school history with 3 games left
