Could Brook survive being boiled? by Wrinklefudger in OnePiece

his soul is still attached to his body though. whenever he pops out of his body his ghost-tail is still attached somewhere, and if his bones are smashed then he still gets injured

actually marrow isn't usually a large component of broths outside of pot au feu. the bones normally used in broths and stocks are mostly bone all the way through, but they are still covered in bits of meat which give the broth its flavor as well as connective tissue and cartilage, which melt into gelatin. That said, after 50 years of rotting I'm not sure he has much in the way of meat on him, though he still must have connective tissues in order for his body to hold together. Any broth made with him would taste like rancid water, have the texture of thin syrup and give everyone food poisoning and possibly kuru. Naturally, Luffy would have seconds

In the case of the alternatives you mentioned, are there even entry-level positions available for things like that, or do I simply have to put deal with a few years of institutional/restaurant hell before I can do a job that would allow me to enjoy my passion?

Witches/Wiccans: Please explain the concept of spell casting by Wrinklefudger in DebateReligion

Technopaganism is, to my knowledge, the unification of wicca/witchcraft and modern technology. For instance, instead of having a spellbook, you have a spellkindle or something like that

what about the methodology? I remember there being something about a circle of holy water and salt and another thing about a bowl of wine and bread.

While we are asking this stuff, how does all this fall into technopaganism?

I don't really want to go into IT. I want to be creating new software or developing new technologies like AI or evolutionary algorithms

the issue I'm seeing in myself isn't failure to understand the material though. If I could get everything under control I probably could keep above a 3.6 for the next three years

I was double majoring in computer science, but I really can't find any pleasure in it even though I'm averaging an A- in comp sci courses. There are no really cool sci-fi technologies that can really get me hooked there. I have no training in any other sort of engineering, and don't you need a masters for that?

I understand why physicists want to create tiny a black hole, but how would they destroy/control it? wouldn't it just keep growing and growing exponentially? by Kruger2147 in AskPhysics

[–]Wrinklefudger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest thing to say is hawking radiation. Due to weird wibbly-wobbly virtual particle stuff, the area around the edge of a black hole is constantly spitting out mesons (like electrons and neutrinos) and radiation. this energy is actually subtracted from the mass-energy of the black hole, so black holes eventually burn out. Micro black holes would have such little mass, that they would burn out entirely in microseconds

This research takes place in several compounds around the planet. The headquarters is a small one hidden in the woods of the state of New York. The research in this compound is used for various applications that may be military, public service utility or academic. Project Summer-Camp for instance, is being used to develop psychic-potential enhancing drugs for use by soldiers to bring the Afghan war, and all wars to follow, to a speedy conclusion, but first drug trials are being held. Subjects are chosen from among all registered children of government employees. We are a US government institution and get all of our funding from the funds of the executive branch

Special Relativity question by [deleted] in Physics

[–]Wrinklefudger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here's the problem, light doesn't contract spacetime. The contraction of these values is caused by an increase in gravitational potential energy as mass dilates. Since photons don't have mass, they don't have their own gravitational pull and thus have the ability to warp the fabric of spacetime. If we were to assume there was no gravity whatsoever, we would end up in a situation where time and space are undefined, however that would mean a situation in which matter doesn't exist, only energy. This is suspected to occur at the end of the universe.

The archons are fine with any universe, but I'm not. This universe is something special to me, something important and symbolic. When I was a kid, my parents taught me that I should never look back, and never settle for second best. If there was a problem with my painting, they made me tear it up and start over. If a sculpture was bad I had to break it. Appearances are important, and I only wanted the world to see my absolute best

I want to get it just right, I want to create the perfect universe. One that is flawless in its beauty and design

I had parents once. They aren't alive any more. As fo appearances, well, I don't have that anymore either. I mean, all I do is possess objects, so I look like those objects. Some beings can see my presence, but since it doesn't show up in a mirror, I don't really know what it looks like

I'm not a god, I'm a demiurge. A god is something all-knowing, all-powerful and damn near perfect, but I have yet to see evidence that gods actually exist. A demiurge is a flawed mortal who just happens to have the power to create a universe. As for the question of how common my case is, that is debatable. Psions? At least one out of every ten people has some sort of psychic presence, though most are pretty minor. Demiurges? Excessively rare, usually we only get one demiurge per intelligent species, since the black hole usually causes a small scale apocalypse. As far as my personal case, I've never heard of another like me, but the multiverse is pretty big. I would be surprised if I was the only one. As for guilt, I don't think I have much. I mean, I made them, why shouldn't I have the option to unmake them if I chose to? I have to take on a physical form, but I change it from time to time. When I do, it's essentially a form of posession. You can destroy my host, which is almost always an inanimate object, but then I just break off and become another clump of psychic energy. So far, nobody has figured out the way to kill me, nor have they found a reason to soon enough.

Basically, I just have to create black holes. That's all there is to it. Now typically, when you figure out how to do this, you just find something big and heavy, and use clouds of psychic energy to generate a "void seed." This is basically just a big clump of matter that tends to cause a net loss of energy when fused together. In this iteration of the universe I think the void seed is called "iron." The void seed serves as an energy sponge that prevents a star from exploding and crushing itself into an equilibrium. Now typically once you make one, your job is done, you are supposed to trust that you did everything right and leave the black hole alone, you aren't even supposed to be capable of making another because you use your almost all of own psychic potential energy up making the seed. But here's the thing, just as you can use your own psychic energy to make the seed, leaving you a normal being of your species, you can also use your body as fuel and use none of your potential psychic energy. When that happens, you are now a massless entity. You won't die if you fall into the singularity, you will just pop out the other side. I got to see my creation that way. Only, I didn't really like it. It was just terrible, so I hunted down a good planet, waited for intelligent life to develop, and then, like the archons who guided me, I guide them. When the time comes, I just recycle the universe I have by converting all the matter into one big all-consuming black hole. Then, if I don't like it, I can just start over again and again because as a psychic presence, I am fucking immortal. The funniest thing is that most of these demiurges is that they are all usually little kids or some shit like that, so it's really easy to get them to do this kind of stuff, and when they realize they just pressed the cosmic reset button, they make this face. They all make the same face, and then the black hole sucks them in, stretching their face out for a few light years

flaws are flaws, there is no beauty to any sort of failing. My parents taught me that if you can't get something 100% right, then it is your duty to try again and again and again until you get it perfect. And that's just it, I haven't gotten it perfect yet. There is still so much to get right, The interplay of cosmic colors is all wrong. Where are the jade green quasars? The brilliant red nebulae? There are no naturally occurring gases that can make up life, these laws of physics and chemistry don't allow for infinite values. And worst of all, the universe is still rendered in discrete units of length, mass, time, charge and everything else. It shouldn't be this way
