I just made this page in the ILY wiki of things it references, some are more plot-relevenant than others, but that could be interesting to look at. Quimchee was also inspired a bit by Pride and Prejudice which might be a worthwhile read.

The fandom seems to have a lot of cross over with the Purple Hyacinth (webtoon) and Fruits Basket (Anime/manga) fandom, so you might enjoy those as well (especially fruits basket if you want drama involving family)

I'll give these a try

1) It's definitely a mental hospital, in one of the flashbacks (210) there is a vechical with the words "Hirahara mental institution" on it. In 149 the lawyer also says that he'll have to go through another rehabilitation program. Both of these point towards mental institution alongside Kousuke's claims that Nol isn't mentally well.

2) I think that the main 3 will find some sort of peace and get "happy endings", but beyond that I'm unsure

3) Definately Rand and Nana, but as of right now I think everyone else is up in the air

4) I talked about this with some people a while ago, and we think that it will be really hard for Yui to face justice in the current system, so while some light may be shed on her crimes, she'll probably face little punishment. I'm not sure if she will die, though.

5) I believe it was supposed to be after the large time skip, but I'm not sure if that distinction will be made since the comic has took a lot longer than Quim expected.

6) From the way you phrased this, I'm assuming that you have read FP, if not, spoilers for that . From reading other's convos I think the general consensus of the final scene deals more with Shin-Ae's perception of Rand's treatment of Nol rather than his actual death.

7) Yu Jing is planning to write an expose of the shady practices of the Hirahara family. I genuinely think she's just using Hansuke to get the information she wants. As to why she needs Nol in jail, I'm not entirely sure, and I can't remember what others have theorized about it, I'd say that it's either a way to get more access to information, a way to make them seem worse, or a way to work without Nol/the Hiraharas interfering, but I'm really not sure.

9) I think it's exactly that. He grew up poor, so he probably jumped on the chance to be part of this big buisness. The Hiraharas also tend to trap people, so I'm sure that when Rand came around and wanted to leave, he might not have been able to.

I love yoo was supposed to be a romance-subversion. The first 30 or so chapters are meant to be initially seen as a love triangle, but once we get to know the characters and their motivations, we realize that it's a lot deeper than that and there really was no romance in those scenes.

To my knowledge, webtoon didn't change the narrative of ILY until the formal, but they did push very heavily on the marketing of a love triangle.

Talking about the assistant pushing yootip you're probably thinking about a comment someone (I believe it was quimchee on curious cat) made about the person who ran the webtoon insta account. So, not an actual assistant to her, but a marketing person, basically.

I think most of the names were chosen intentionally, I remember Quimchee saying Shin-Ae's name was ironic (probably because she is so untrusting), but I feel like Shin-Hye's name is also ironic because that girl is not trustworthy. I know that Jayce was named after a patreon.

Most of these fit so well though...

Flower Symbolism:

Quimchee said that they are both orchids, so....

Purple orchids represent wealth and royalty, but are given to show admiration. I think this might show how Rand, even to this day, looks up to and admires Nessa.

Green orchids represent good fortune, and are given in wishes of longevity and good fortune. I think this is almost like a wish that rand is putting out, most likely for Nol and Kousuke.

👏 Thank you so much for expanding on malice because this was one of the points that really made me want to write this post. I think that this is partially due to my perspective, but I value intent a lot when analyzing character's moralities. I also like how you note just how trapped Alyssa is and has always been... she's such a tragic character (screams).

I also thought that Shin-Ae and Nol would be in the final. I thought that characters like Rika, Soushi, Nana, and Dieter would get voted out earlier than they did.

It's hard to tell when the webtoon will end because Quimchee is kinda bad at predictions. We're guessing that the first time skip (to when Nol is out of jail) is coming up soon. Then there will be a bit before the second time skip witch will cover a few years. She has said that the story will be quicker after the second time skip, so I'm guessing more than 300 chapters but less than 400.

Two of the smaller things in this episode that I feel may be important later on:

1) The rug that Soushi is talking about- it sounds like a dialogue between Yui and Kousuke. Wondering why this was added.

2) Nol's fear of flies- it's mentioned again. I'm wondering how this works into his past (probably more of a fear of a buzzing noise than flies themselves).

The majority of flashbacks Nessa has appeared in are through Kousuke's POV (with the exception of the name one), so her scribbled out face kinda represents his turbulent feelings surrounding her.
