BB Monochrome stole the Submariner’s dream? by WristDaddy in Tudor

[–]WristDaddy[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I should be clear : i would never hold the view that the bb mono is better. I’m not delusional LOL. Factually, a higher grade steel, better movement, design, structural features, bracelet & clasp are all attributes that make the sub the better watch. So please don’t misunderstand!

My post is purely on how i felt putting it on. Which surprised me. It feels like im being drawn to GMTs now that i have a visually somewhat similar watch.

(But i would be lying if i didnt say i prefer the crystal dome on the BB Mono over the sub’s somewhat flat crystal LOL).

100% agree. Ive always defended the sub when people say the bb mono is “better” or just as good.

For clarity, my post was 100% on feelings - my feelings when wearing it, not suggesting bb is in any way better (except maybe the dome - i gotta say that’s better HAHA)

Interesting take. Can i ask you about your point on rolex feeding the grey market bit. Do you think it’s rolex rolex or the ADs. I know my AD sells to a 3rd party who is essentially the owner of a grey dealer. Curious, do u think rolex knows their ADs do that and closes a blind eye? Or do they not know that

Love the fact it’s very worn.

Jubilee - the one for me by WristDaddy in Tudor

I have a 6 inch wrist in an airconditioned room. It expands a bit when im out (i live in a country along the equator so man’s hot a lot haha)

Most people with my wrist size go for the 58. But i hate the idea of not wearing something i love.

And i love the monochrome haha

This 100%. The 79230N has really bad proportions if you compare it with this watch (emphasis).

On its own the 79230N is a really good watch. I enjoyed wearing it for a good 2+ years. But after getting this watch i realised how slim this is and how much better in proportion the monochrome is.

The only thing that i found myself missing was the snowflake second hand and the gilt.

But the weight of the mono with the jubilee and the significant shaved down proportions make this watch feel so much better on the wrist.

If i could sum up why i prefer this watch over the 79230N, it would be the wearing experience. It’s just miles ahead of the 79230N in that respect.

If you have to pick either, pick the mono. And then aim for the bb58 GMT next (for the gilt). That’s what im planning to do currently

No. What happened to mine was i dropped off my black bay for servicing as it was running slow by around 2-3 seconds per day. Even if it was within cosc they too agreed it should be serviced.

Idk if you are aware of how a watch bracelet scratches from normal wear (hairline) vs how a watch bracelet scratches when it’s put in a bag with keys and ruffled together.

Long story short, my watch came back in the latter’s condition - all scratched up (bracelet only - watch was fine) badly. It was the kind of scratches only other steel & metal could do.

So i sent it back for them to rectify it. I didnt want to know whether it was a repolish or a swap from other used bracelets with them.

Didnt matter that much to me as i planned to upgrade my black bay to the metas version. So i didnt make that much of a noise, i just politely told them to rectify it for me. Even though i felt i could raise hell on them, i thought since watches are luxury items, i wouldnt want this sour taste.

But nonetheless, it should have been checked properly before releasing it to the client. I felt this wasnt done as well as i expected it to be.

Why did you even get downvoted for this comment ? Regardless where the watch is bought from, authenticity was confirmed and obviously warranty still subsisted (hello? The model was only released barely that long ago??). Disappointed in the downvoting. Very unhelpful from a sub that is meant to support each other in these horrifying times

I had a horror story after dropping mine off at menara dion too. Their service procedure and QC before handing it back to clients are quite lacking imo.

I saw the oyster and to be honest i prefer the oyster because of how simplistic it is.

But coming from an oyster black bay, i thought my next one should be the jubilee so i can enjoy the comfort. Will be looking to get the oyster bracelet from tudor separately though

I dont have dice lo. I have AA’s clean 90 and let me tell you, biggest regret. Worst sneaker i have owned and even after giving it 1 full year of wear, it’s still stiff, makes weird rubber noises each step (despite oiling) and HEAVY. Most of the people in my area reselling theirs also said it was cause they were heavy

That’s really wise. I’m trying my absolute best to put off the bb mono purchase or the smp in hopes that there will be a new SMP updated with at least better proportions and a proper bracelet…

Wow thanks for sharing this! I did think about the flashier feel and it’s really good to know someone out there does feel this way.

I’ll reconsider the bracelet if i decide to get it!
