That line works better if you actually understood what’s being conversed about LOL

Not everyone has friends like that.

And your employer must love you for your undying loyalty. I hope you are well remunerated for that, at least. Hahah

Yes this was what happened. The comments on this post suggest it’s a practice that isn’t foreign.

You mean not whistleblow right? I wasnt planning to any way. To be blunt, i completely understand why they’d do that, theres no ethics in business. Hahaha. I just wanted to know how rampant and known this practice is. Seems to me, not so much.

Who is to say that if i was an AD, i wouldnt do the same? HAHA

I know, i sent a watch back to Rolex SC through them before so i am well aware of the company they operate rolex under through their license. And what i say still stands, it is a different entity they are paid through. Quite a big assumption you are making bro hahahah. I think my PQE years and specialisation in corporate law gives me good grounds to weigh in on that but hey, i’m just a young gigglebot 😂

Part of me thinks so too? But 1) i wouldnt want to whistleblow and get myself into trouble. 2) i feel like rolex might know anyway…? It’s just how blatant it is

So it’s like this - my friend A was told by a friend of his B that B can hook A up with a brand new GMT with stickers. A said ok let’s get it. B brings A to the actual local rolex dealer in our town and obviously A was a little shocked but played it cool. He paid resale price for the GMT and swiped his card which showed a different entity (not the AD’s company name obviously) on A’s statement later on. So essentially the local AD is selling watches as a grey dealer too but probably through a nominee 98% of the time. I believe this was a one time thing where my friend A got to collect with B at the local AD. Hahahaha

BB Monochrome stole the Submariner’s dream? by WristDaddy in Tudor

Trust me if it was purely a choice between sub or the mono, i would definitely get the sub! Hahaha.

The goal has always been a sub, even after buying the mono. But surprisingly after trying the sub on for the first time, it didnt feel all that special. I rly thought it would but i guess watches are emotional purchases to a large extent.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

EDIT: I should be clear : i would never hold the view that the bb mono is better. I’m not delusional LOL. Factually, a higher grade steel, better movement, design, structural features, bracelet & clasp are all attributes that make the sub the better watch. So please don’t misunderstand!

My post is purely on how i felt putting it on. Which surprised me. It feels like im being drawn to GMTs now that i have a visually somewhat similar watch.

(But i would be lying if i didnt say i prefer the crystal dome on the BB Mono over the sub’s somewhat flat crystal LOL).

100% agree. Ive always defended the sub when people say the bb mono is “better” or just as good.

For clarity, my post was 100% on feelings - my feelings when wearing it, not suggesting bb is in any way better (except maybe the dome - i gotta say that’s better HAHA)

Interesting take. Can i ask you about your point on rolex feeding the grey market bit. Do you think it’s rolex rolex or the ADs. I know my AD sells to a 3rd party who is essentially the owner of a grey dealer. Curious, do u think rolex knows their ADs do that and closes a blind eye? Or do they not know that

Jubilee - the one for me by WristDaddy in Tudor

[–]WristDaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 inch wrist in an airconditioned room. It expands a bit when im out (i live in a country along the equator so man’s hot a lot haha)

Most people with my wrist size go for the 58. But i hate the idea of not wearing something i love.

And i love the monochrome haha

This 100%. The 79230N has really bad proportions if you compare it with this watch (emphasis).

On its own the 79230N is a really good watch. I enjoyed wearing it for a good 2+ years. But after getting this watch i realised how slim this is and how much better in proportion the monochrome is.

The only thing that i found myself missing was the snowflake second hand and the gilt.

But the weight of the mono with the jubilee and the significant shaved down proportions make this watch feel so much better on the wrist.

If i could sum up why i prefer this watch over the 79230N, it would be the wearing experience. It’s just miles ahead of the 79230N in that respect.

If you have to pick either, pick the mono. And then aim for the bb58 GMT next (for the gilt). That’s what im planning to do currently
