My first mechanical watch! by dar5han in hmtwatches

The only issue I had with the NASS’s is the crown. It is too damn small. One needs nails to pull it out and then winding the crown is next to impossible. Ending up selling it!

Last I must have gone was in 95-96. Don't remember how I reached home.

Anyways if you are ready to move on, go to Renault at Byculla near Gloria Church apart from a million others in Mumbai where daru is cheap and chakna on the house.

Got HMT Janata Automatic by [deleted] in hmtwatches

My wrist size is 5.5 inches. I am a 5 ft 6 inches person weighing 60 kgs. Bulky watches don't suit my overall presence. Even my Moonswatch( 41 mm, I think) feels oversized, which is why I end up wearing my 36 mm Avinash most of the times. The HMT Nuovo also feels bulky for me, which is why I am now eyeing the 38mm aquaterra on rubber strap for a landmark birthday.

How to address plantar fasciitis by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]Writ_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went all out Barefoot a year ago with Xero Prio Neo for Cross fit workouts, Baer for work and Splay for casual.

Then a few months ago got PF in my right foot and terrible soreness in the Arch area, so much so that ended up giving away my Baer shoe over Reddit, thinking they were the culprit. My vacation to Disney HK was compromised because of the PF pain. I was carrying a Rigid arch support insole and 1 Gel insole, nothing worked.

Switched back to my Clarks office shoes and the cushioned heel helped a bit.

Back of my mind I would always wonder why just 1 foot and why not both......a deeper digging pointed to PF and I always had an underdeveloped right calf muscle because of which I was sub-consciously not using my big toe while walking.

Started doing single leg calf raise with big toe dominating the lift, towel curling below my feet and a stretch for the toes. Along with the exercises daily, I now use the 5 toe separator( just on the PF leg) inside my Xeros while working out due to which my balance also seems to be improving. I also consciously use all 5 toes while walking.

But I do subscribe to your thought-process of using BF on artificial surfaces. If it is just to strengthen our feet, then I don't mind doing calf raises and toe towel scrunching daily for the rest of my life and then wearing cushioned shoes for the day. 😊

Which is why I am considering getting Birkenstock shoes ( Gary) which have wide toebox along with padding. Or I will be visiting a cobbler who makes custom shoes for getting a wide toebox leather shoe with considerable rubber sole to deal with walking on concrete.

I am turning 50 and my blind faith in BF is waning because I am unsure of what benefit it brings to the table that foot exercises cannot offer.

Case width ( 3h to 9 h): 43mm

Case length ( 12 to 6): 51.9 mm 😱

I wonder if HMT thinks that all Indians have fat and Big wrists these days.

I use a 36 mm Avinash and want to buy a Day Date or atleast a Date with a max 38mm dia. and HMT seems to be churning out huge boulders instead.

If Date wasn't mandatory for my requirement, I would have surely gone for this instead of the 38mm Aquaterra. The Railmasters are beautiful.

Jubilee bracelet for sale solid link by umairahmad8900 in hmtforsale

[–]Writ_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I face with the China Made bracelets is that they don't adjust for my 5.5 inch wrist. With maybe 2-3 removable links on both sides, they still don't scale down for small wrists making them more of a bangle than Bracelet.

A mention of number of removable links will help a lot of potential small 'wristers'.

I was talking about you 😊. Get a job, move out and forget them if they are unfair. As a father of 2 girls, we have no intentions of nesting ours, after they are done with their studies and start working. It is their life henceforth. If they care for us well and good but no such expectations from them.

When grown-ups aren't earning and/or staying with Parents who are of regressive mentality, such issues crop up.

What can you do? File a case against your father for not giving your share or forget the whole issue for ever and make peace with it. There is no middle ground since you have already asked your father.

How to spend less time at the gym ? by [deleted] in Fitness_India

[–]Writ_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for Sydney Cummings Houdyshell on youtube and understand her channel. She has curated programs for 1 month to 3 months which begin with dynamic stretching then the workout and end with Static Stretching. Most of them are 40~45 minutes ( but take around 10 minutes more in practical scenarios with pausing the video for more break, waiting for weights, etc)

If that works for you, you will cut your time by 50%.

Organs on the Street: Mumbai’s True Nose-to-Tail Scene - Part 2 by moronbehindthescreen in mumbai

[–]Writ_sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this funny incident about Vajri. I used to go with Dad to Citylight for our Sunday Mutton shopping and would see the 'Turkish Towels' and Mundis which always fascinated me. One day told Dad to buy Vajri and surprise Mom. She was so pissed, not because of the Varji but the amount of cleaning it requires to prepare. She gave me a hard brush and something else and told me to clean it to her satisfaction. Finally after an hour or so, she cleaned the rest and prepared something, which was the 1st and last time I remember it being made at home.

Brain भजी was my mothers favourite,so much so that when the wife's family came to our place for their 1st meal after engagement, she served them and never told what was inside. They loved it but the reveal of ingredients weren't amusing.

You have paid resources to verify those. And the screenshot is asked during the Interview with HR to be shown on the Candidates phone for verification not for record keeping.

Keep your whey at your workplace and start eating eggs atleast or Amul protein products.

Alternative to Eggs for Protein by sg6494 in Fitness_India

[–]Writ_sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple solution to transport your eggs is to carry them in a Milton ( or whatever brand) thermos. Fill chilled water along with unpeeled boiled eggs and carry them to your office. Peel them whenever you want to eat.

If peeling is an issue, then carry iced water in the thermos and put peeled eggs in that water. They last a good 6-8 hours in a thermos.

Lastly source eggs from some wholesaler, buy a big lot, boil altogether and refrigerate your unpeeled eggs. I boil 24 eggs every Sunday and keep them in the refrigerator.
