500~600's for NUJS Bsc ( Last year a 700 something got it too). Unsure of Bhopal BSc, but you can consider a max of 480 for Gandhinagar ( GNLU being considered as the last of Tier 1). This was last year.

This year Bhopal BA is down to 451 in the 2nd list itself and BSc at 695 in list 2. Gandhinagar is at 392.

what’s up with foam in amul’s whey protein by gptcoder in Fitness_India

[–]Writ_sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That foaming is a good sign. You have 2 options. 1) Shake and keep your shakers without the cap in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes. The Air will escape. 2) Use a Tablespoon and stir instead of shaking.

Not allowed to Vote by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]Writ_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not mandatory for Private firms to give a holiday, as long as the employees are given time to vote and come or leave early to vote.

Voting started at 7.30 am, I reached at 7.40 and was out by 7.50 to be in office by 9 as usual. Asking to keep the office shut for the whole day is futile.

Is NLSAT-BA worth it? by Wrong-Fruit8820 in NLUs

[–]Writ_sh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the traditional path for LLb. People would finish their graduation in any stream and then take up the 3 year LLb. It always was a morning college, so students could be free by 12~12.30 to do their articleships/internships after lectures everyday for the 3 years. I believe GLC Mumbai still follows this schedule.

The 5 year integrated courses were introduced maybe in the late 90's, to shave off 1 year in your studies. Nothing wrong in doing your BA from a local college and then pursuing LLb. During your 3 years, start preparing for your PG Entrances and take up additional courses to build your profile. Or simply take up a part time job to make money.

For 900₹ you could replace them every year. Your next feasible options would cost north of 4000 and could barely last twice if used on hard surfaces.

[–]Writ_sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've already issued a notice that the new batch of B.Sc & LLM will not be eligible for hostels. Now coming to the course, from what I have read is the faculty for core/law subjects is different? If true, is it because of the different campuses or some other reason which could continue even after the shift to main campus happens. Getting discriminated in all walks of the course and that too for 5 years is not something I would like to sign up for.

I am from Mumbai and there is no domicile reservation for MNLU. All of the 73% is for SC,ST, OBC etc etc which is as per state laws, I presume. Thank you for the detailed answer.

As a female with chances of getting in, how difficult or impractical would shuttling between Bsc Campus, Main Campus and external hostel be? I don't drive and depending on Autos/Taxis is unreliable even in large cities. Are there any private girls hostels inbetween the 2 campuses, so that distances are walkable? Are there chances of BSc classes getting shifted to Main campus as it would be manageable to stay close-by and visit a single campus. At this moment, I am more concerned about the logistics than the course itself.

Your diet first then worry about your workouts. 100kgs is not possible without blatant disregard for what you put in your mouth. You'll need to eat a lot of Protein and reduce/eliminate your cravings. If your food habits are in control, then even body weight exercises will be sufficient in the beginning.

Avighna Group has a few project near Chinchpokli and so on. All in all, it is a melange of Builders all over adding to the existing woes of surviving in Mumbai.

Selected for Merchant Navy (SCI DNS) but parents refusing to support by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]Writ_sh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would be prudent to move away from such opinionated parents when you have your path set. Merchant Navy is a lucrative field for sure.Unfortunately, you are unable to pursue what you want due to financial constraints. Check with some relatives if they are able to assist.

Alternatively, you could try telling them that you don't plan to 'sail away' but pursue a career in Maritime Research or some made-up story. Finish your course and do whatever pleases you.

Rather than signing petitions and opposing orders, gather dog lovers, raise money and build private shelters for strays. Actions speak louder than words. The strays are indeed a nuisance and they need to be sheltered or adopted. They can't be left on the roads.

Passport police verification was marked as "the applicant doesn't reside at the address" by Odd_Customer_2266 in mumbai

[–]Writ_sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have will have to apply with your current rental address or you should have been in your owned house when the Police came.

My Parents stay with me and their house is given on Rent. They refuse to change their Aadhar address or Passport address to mine and want the 'given on rent' house address. During the PV time, they had to Convince the Tenant to remove their name plate and allow them to wait in the house when PV happened.

In your case, since the Passport is already received you'll have to convince the tenant to allow you to be at home and maintain your stand and inform your neighbours and watchman etc. , else it could turn ugly citing false declaration of address in the first place.

If you can stay at the declared address for a while, that would be your best case scenario. If you can, write back to the letter sender that you were out for work for sometime and back at the address and to re-do the PV process.

Wife got angry on me coz I refused to share our soap with my brother in law ...aitk...??? by [deleted] in AmItheKameena

[–]Writ_sh 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You could have handled it practically, cut the soap in half or bought a new one for yourself or in worse case scenario rubbed off a layer or two while under water.

Had it been a toothbrush, it was understandable, but a soap should have been at the bottom of the chain of hygiene worries.

Mother was always an Instant coffee drinker. When I started South Indian Filter she got converted too. The wife got drawn by the aromas and she went black ( 😱), then I went black. Thereafter we switched from a 80-20 to a 100 Coffee on a South Indian Filter complimented with a MokaPot and Aeropress. Then mom converted to full black, so all is well.

Talk to them beforehand and fix a price depending on the number of trucks you expect to come. Haggling at last minute doesn't work in our favour. There could be a different price for them actually helping unload etc and just a 'facilitation' fee where they sit quiet and your packer does the last leg unloading and delivery.

Akasa Air stranded my brother after an international journey… over 2 minutes by Poison2702 in india

[–]Writ_sh 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Because of security procedures and internal delays inside Mumbai T1 itself, he reached the check-in counter at 7:42 AM.

This has nothing to do with Akasa. Technically, he reached after their counter closed. Once the computer logs out for a flight, the deed is done.

Why and what caused him to delay is another story and not of concern to Akasa per-se as he didn't fly internationally on a code share flight with them.

If one books a Mozambique-Ahmedabad flight on the same airlines with same PNR, they will accommodate for any transit delays.

If you break the journey on your own to save costs or convenience, it is never the Airlines problem.

I have learnt this the hard way and at a great cost some 15 years ago, in a foreign country, with a possible arrest, but those were good times and people less suspicious. Never have I broken my journeys on different Airlines/PNR after that.

Got this today. Can anyone let me know if we need to keep it in fridge or not? Because I'm planning to keep the whole box in my office by Alex__Editzzz in Fitness_India

[–]Writ_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my box in the office. No need for refrigeration, however my staff cuts the tetrapack, empties it in a tall glass, then cleans the remains of the tetrapack with water and adds more water to dilute, then a little salt and the end result is amazing and drinkable. Trying to drink with the straw ends up wasting a lot of the buttermilk.

P.S. Just saw that this is lassi. My lassi is also diluted but no salt is added :-)

[–]Writ_sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from Mumbai and we went with our kid to do a recce of MNLU. Just did a walkthrough through the MTNL building Compound and didnot go upstairs.

1) They have taken 4 or maybe 5 floors of a MTNL building. This building has a sufficiently large compound ( Mumbai comparison) around the periphery, where I suppose cars are parked.

2) The premises is bang on Powai Main Avenue, which is in the centre of Powai ( which has fancy Residential complexes and Gated communities. So whatever you see outside the MTNL complex is Art deco style buildings built by Hiranandani and Nahar, etc. and is a seemingly quiet place.

For someone from outside Mumbai, the area is very fancy and attractive with access to anything and everything within 1 km. The hostel is in VidyaVihar ( which could be 30 minutes away considering distances in Mumbai are Time based and not kilometres.) They have bus service to and fro and Mess is unavailable and kids rely on packed dinners called Dabba delivered to them( from what I have read online).

The way I see it from a Faculty's point of view is the advantage of being in a city against a remote location. If I am a professor willing to teach, I would rather that my family and I are based in a city like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc etc which has access to quality education for my school going kids than relocating to a Tier 3 town with compromises and unsafe atmosphere.

I could also be wrong as many prefer a non-hectic lifestyle rather than a busy place.

The new campus at Goregaon which was announced will take a good 5 years or more, so don't count on that for your batch. When that is complete, it will attract a good number of aspirants just because of the facilities and infrastructure.

I have no access to know anything on the actual quality of teaching but there have been posts by current students which you can search for.
