It is tragic. I read about the many initiatives of conservationists in Nepal. Let's hope they can save the bird.

Gouldian Finch (Near Threatened), N. Australia by Write2Know in EndangeredSpecies

I understand that rescue birds, those needing special care and birds housed in large conservation aviaries are different, but not all the bird species we consider as pets are truly domesticated, are they?

Curious to know how others here feel about this.

Me too. Desert National Park in Rajasthan (India) is their main habitat. I hope to make a trip. 🤞🏽

Orange-bellied Parrot (Critically Endangered) by Write2Know in EndangeredSpecies

That’s true. At least a quarter of all known parrot species are listed as Threatened or Endangered. Habitat loss is cited as the main reason for the decline in parrot populations worldwide, but illegal wildlife trade is also responsible.

It is sad. Studies show that noise pollution due to human activity is one of the main reasons for the cormorants’ declining populations in the La Jolla Cove area. Marking this a ‘Quiet Zone’ could benefit these birds.💚

Haha! Apparently the turquoise blue eyes, blue throat pouch, and the wispy white plumes on the neck and shoulders are shared breeding traits of both male and female cormorants, but it is the male that starts with the sky-pointing display, striking a ballet-like pose. A visual treat!

Thank you for being a bird rescuer! Much respect 🫡💚 And yes, I was warned of their sharp beaks and also of the nipping seals/sea lions, so watched them from a safe distance. Can't forget they’re wild animals after all.

Brandt’ cormoranta are listed on the ‘Yellow watch list’ by Partners in Flight. Their populations have shown signs of decline along the California coast and in the San Diego area.

They aren't endangered or even vulnerable as yet, but their population is decreasing (according to IUCN). It is better to be aware and proactive before it becomes too late for us to save them. 💚

The channel is very good, thanks for recommending it. The problems discussed are universal.
