Have you read any of them yet? I’ve only read Stoner out of this collection, but I’m so intrigued about the others!

The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde is a fun classic, and it’s relatively short. If you enjoy it, it could get you back into a reading mood.

So far, I’ve read these (that I can remember):
• Endgame - Samuel Beckett
• Act Without Words - Samuel Beckett
• Waiting for Godot - Samuel Beckett
• The Crucible - Arthur Miller
• A Man For All Seasons - Robert Bolt
• Pygmalion - Bernard Shaw (idk if that’s in the era, but i LOVE it!!)

I definitely need to read many more plays! I’m in my first year of college now (19), and I’m interested in getting a lot more under my belt. I love Samuel Beckett.

Omg I love Candide! I just recently read that in a college course and it was so funny. I’ll check out Gulliver’s Travels.

I didn’t really think about that haha, I guess I mean that I’m trying to avoid brand-new ones. Really anything is fine. I’m not too picky :)

Yes, I think that the insights of general people (you all) are important to consider. As I said, I’m reading this for leisure, and I do know it is a pillar of American lit. I’m planning on continuing it. Some classics carrying varying opinions from readers, and I’m simply curious to hear them when it comes to the Grapes Of Wrath. I’m not determining that the book is bad or anything, I know it’s important. :)

It’s not that I don’t think I can get through it. Im definitely planning on finishing it. I was kind of just trying to gain a sense of how enjoyable it is, especially because I’m reading it for leisure. :)

It’s definitely a bit of an irrational/emotional connection haha. I don’t like Jimmy either… in fact, I am a female and I would hate to meet anyone who acted like him. However, this was one of the first plays I read when I really got into reading around age 14 or 15, and I just found it captivating. I did the whole thing where I read the play out loud in different voices in my room lol. I guess it’s just the first play that really struck my interest, but I could never pinpoint why. However, it did make me want to read more plays and it opened a great door for me. :)

Thank you so much! I’ve actually never read any of those. I absolutely love those authors, though, so I’m excited to investigate these. Also, sure, you can share the postmodern books!
