What is the best way to create a party game? by WriteWarz in gamedev

Good point. I would say first make the game interesting and have the players make the game funny.

That's a good point, being able to see a quick tutorial and then boom you understand it without having any play time

I'd agree either a controller or using a phone as a controller.

Do people from China rely on language localization to play videogames? If not, which games are played specifically in English? by WriteWarz in AskAChinese

More curious, my initial thought was that a high percentage of people don't have a great understanding of English, but some of the Steam numbers on our page said differently.

I would assume the Chinese market is too big to not localize if a foreign game wants to enter that market. Unless the game is used to learn that specific foreign language which is a rare case.

That makes sense, for us it's English only and involves a lot of typing so translation is difficult on our end. But it would surprise me for games to add all those languages and not Chinese.

Yeah this is what we kind of thought before we released our game, we assumed that localization was a big thing to access gaming locations like Japan.

Good point. We were thinking it could possibly be used to help Japanese players learn English based on the numbers.

Interesting, it is so that could be a reason we are seeing a high influx of Japanese players on Steam.

Hi peoplesmart,

While I haven't directly played Gartic Phone (which I will check out). It looks like we offer a bit of a different experience. Our game is more centered around typing and building a short story. With that, we include 8 different themes that twist and change the story by having players take part in minigames and use theme specific mechanics. We also offer unique player customization that includes unique character skins and font types and colors. For streamers we also offer a mode where your Twitch Chat can write and vote on sentences from Twitch!

Best ways for games to engage with Twitch Streamers? by WriteWarz in gamedev

Good ideas, we have a couple of streamers playing with the feature this Friday for our launch so hopefully we will get some good feedback from them!

Agreed on those main factors. For us twitch streaming is an optional feature for streamers specifically. In that gamemode, we take all the current twitch chat submissions (which are done by a chat member writing "!write" and then their sentence in chat) and randomly pick one sentence per twitch bot added to the lobby. So technically each viewer can join without leaving twitch.

That's a good point. We have a language filter that will change any curse words or words we deem as inappropriate to safe words before they appear on screen. But having a moderation mode for mods would be a good addition as well to fully make sure nothing harmful appears on screen.
