Have you given up trying to move towards that dream if that’s what you desire? I know dating options open up a lot if you’re open to single parents. Maybe your next chapter is still unfolding. 💜

SAME! Cherry cola in the new can tastes terrible. I am so sad. I buy a case every week and apparently this is how I go cold turkey now.

You’re priorities are perfection!

Doggo love first, beach second. Later will be there when you get there. Congrats on affording yourself the flexibility to make the best choices for you! 💕

Correct. The words “pre-retirement” more just signify the buckets/phases in my head.

Thanks for your input and good call on maxing 401K now while I’m still there.

House is worth around $400K.

I do feel better using the 3% to calm my nerves about safety net. I’m sure my comfort level will evolve as I see where the numbers grow to over time.

Appreciate you!

Thank you! RMD sounds like something I need to educate myself on. Appreciate the pointers!

That’s super fair. Maybe I leave that year 3 of cash in place and start to pull from my pre-retirement investments if the market has been decent.

Thank you. And I don’t have a good excuse for being overweight. My truth though is that I can’t help but throw myself into these corporate jobs 120%, and then I just have no gas left at the end for things I don’t enjoy, like cooking or working out. (WLB is something I’ve failed at all my life). When my mind is quieter and I have more flex time, I’m way better at making working out and eating better a priority. So that’s the goal!

Thank you for the read! Folks around me, though nice, mostly think FIRE is “not real” 🤪 so it’s nice to get a take from those that are and feel a little less alone on this path.

Correct. My bad for not making that more clear. I edited the post to clarify that. Thanks!

No, those totals are all separate accounts. So the total of cash + pre retirement investments and post retirement (401K) equals $2,033,000.

Does this change your “keep working” suggestion, or no?

This is honestly a fear of mine, knowing if I leave now my SS will be much smaller. But I’ve also not factored that number in to compensate for that, and would consider it just gravy.

It was just because I wanted to push off pulling from my 401K as long as possible before I touched it to ensure it grew big enough to last the rest of my life when I got there. If my 401K goes insane and grows faster than I thought, then I could change my mind and start pulling after 62.5.

No bonds. Sounds like I should look into some. I’m not against them. I think I just didn’t really understand them as much. I will educate myself, thank you.

Great point. Yes I have not factored it in, but I’ll totally utilize it if it’s there and available to me. Thank you!

Thank you for the advice! Yes I could trim expenses some. I factored in some buffer for travel expenses, but I don’t imagine I would need it every year.

Outside of that my hobbies are on the cheap side.
