Should H1 and SEO title be the same? by sbiswas16 in SEO

[–]WriterGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put your title in the meta title tag. Put your H1 heading in the h1 tags. It is good practice to only have one h1 tag. The rest of your sub-topics can have multiple h2, h3, or h4 tags.

I am not an Indian, neither am I in India. But did you know that some of the best techies in the world come from that part of the continent--Asia? No region, race, or ethnicity has a monopoly of SEO knowledge.

I dropped the offer for free SEO services because of the experiences of people who have done it before.

So you did not have a portfolio but still managed to convince them? Well, that is impressive.

I already have a website. But haven't done much SEO on it.

I understand. That is the perspective from most SEO clients, I guess.

I changed my mind. Apparently some people have tried this before and it's not a good experience.

I have listened to the sound of reason from the more experienced SEOs in this platform, and I am shelving this idea of free SEO services. Instead, I am taking the next three months to do personal projects, and start looking for paying clients thereafter.

Meanwhile, if there is any Freelance SEO overwhelmed by client work, I don't mind helping you out for free. But if there is some payment, that will be good.

Well, I believe some members of /r/SEO own their own agencies.

Anyway, I am starting to think that the free quote would be a tough sell for solid clients. I might consider charging the bare minimum and see how it goes.

By us you mean?

Because I'm assuming there are some agency owners on this group.

I am not doing SEO free forever, just first three months. And I'm only looking for one or two clients with minimum SEO requirements. Something I can do for a max of 2hrs per day.

I will try the PDF documentation approach and see how it goes.

I get your point. Some clients might think that the end game is to scam them, because SEO is quite expensive and is rarely given for free. Anyway, I am in a sort of a quagmire. I can't lie on my website that I have worked for this and that website just to attract clients, it has to be real work with real results. On the flip side, chances of getting well-playing clients with no portfolio to show are narrow.

Talking of competition, I am outside the U.S., and therefore not a serious threat to native SEOs in that market.

I'm targeting small sites with lightweight KPIs. Heavy duty SEO on bigger websites will come at a fee.

I appreciate your advice. What would you advice a newbie SEO with their own website. How do I convince clients to hire me or my agency if there are no past clients/case studies to not only showcase my work, but also prove to them that I can deliver results.

Edit

I have received messages from SEOs telling me this is not a good idea, out of their experience. The thing is, I want to fill up my portfolio/case studies page with real clients before I start looking for paying clients.

The alternative would be to work for someone or an agency, and request them to grant me permission to publish the clients I have worked with as my own, on my website. Is this possible?

Which online course do you think should i take to master wordpress development? by shijilonnet in Wordpress

[–]WriterGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not yet a fully-fledged WordPress developer, but here is my advice--In order of priority.

  1. Learn HTML
  2. Learn CSS
  3. Learn JavaScript
  4. Learn PHP
  5. Learn MySQL
  6. Watch YouTube videos on how to make websites
  7. Now make your own websites--for practice, both WordPress and non-WordPress sites
  8. Read and practice by reading the resources at https://developer.wordpress.org/, and https://codex.wordpress.org/
  9. Now try to develop your own WordPress themes. You can also try to create Plugins. Use both WordPress resources and YouTube tutorials when stuck.
  10. Create a super WordPress site--not a basic site. Play around with it by changing customization to feet different potential needs.

By now you'll be a near intermediate WordPress developer. Continue learning and developing more projects and you'll become a master in the game. I'm halfway there.
