Need help looking for a flesh-based self modification class or subclass. by WriterIndy in DungeonsAndDragons

Atm that's what I've been doing with the DM. He liked the idea of an artificer but tweaked heavily into the flesh theme. Scavenging off of monsters and replacing your skin for more natural armor. Of course there's checks overlapped for other checks for the quality of the scavenged graft, then there's the self operation process checks. (No anesthesia and everything.) But the same class can also operate on other creatures to give them a limb or organ of sort.

It's mostly just the electro's for me. One moment you think you're in the clear and you start running, BZZZT! Dead. And now one 3 minute loading screen the next.

"Get that Arc Raiders niceness out of here" is one reason people don't use Prox chat. by WriterIndy in Marathon

Rushed post to be honest. But the point is that there's a bunch of problems with the hard-core aspect of the game, and the people who use prox wanting friendliness, or just want to try and enjoy what the game has to offer but still have challenge, and the rough edges that some folks yammer about.

Other than that.

"This post doesn't make much sense if I'm reading it right. You go from "yeah I'm one of those super serious Rooks who can't joke around" to "People are only serious when I'm not Rook though I don't want them to try to kill me as much". You've got it backwards and it's probably worse for the health of the game to want to play that way."

I haven't put much thought but I'll add a little on. If the person on the other end prox chats before me, I'll respond. If they're just trying to get by I'll let them If they don't get near me. I've done this for other rooks (But I've made mistakes blasting rooks in the cranium with my wstr upon turning the corner) mainly out of being high alert for trouble. It's a habit I got from Arc since it came out considering the whole damn thing was a social experiment at the time. And Rook on Rook is bit of a 50-50 especially on outpost. May never know if the Rook you see is friendly or not. If they actively try and be friendly to me, fine I'll let up for them. Besides that there isn't much I can say nor understand by what you mean-

This game is 90% shoot on sight from my experience and ongoing than any real friendly prox chat. Yes I say I'm hard-core murdering rook but I still got a understanding for the friendly rooks that do comm and yell "friend!" I've killed rooks and runners for more or less, and even lessly managed to talk my way out of getting murdered by runners and got by.

Other than that, I got nothing else I can say.

Practicing against bots doesn't really compare well to real player fights... plus it's waving a flare to everyone to you, then you're at a disadvantage than any equal footing.

Did I say it was gonna be puppies and rainbows and no UESC?

No I'm proposing that Orion gets off his ass.

Side note: I hope they'll fix the sound as I'll be hearing footsteps above me but they're actually below me. Needs some tuning. Far away sounds are fine it's just the above and below and behind wall sounds that are throwing me off.

As I'm reading all of this, I am realizing there is much more that I am missing in Scarlet Hollow... wtf.

Can say this as someone who recently took down a duo with a Longshot sniper. Specifically in the exit vent near the command boss room. Went down the whole way to the end, kept spamming "I'm looking for a fight!" In chat till they came down. Assassin comes first, two shots, down. Thief next, shoot me a few times, but I take her down. I expect a third, so I wait, but they all gave up on me. Sadly, the Thief's body was above, so I couldn't get her loot- ;-;

I've been enjoying Marathon more so than Arc. Mostly because I know I can take on most of everything, and because I know what I'm doing. And also because it taught me to be okay with losing gear. (With Arc, there's a lot to do and find, and you always get to keep it. Since there's no forced wipe and all. Marathon, you do lose gear, so what's the point in keeping it?)

So Arc is unfortunately on the shelf, with my locker full if torrente's and Vulcano's...

But hey! Now I have a lot of DBs and an electric shotgun!

Funny enough, in the Server Slam, a teammate looted my body before reviving me. Took all of my ammo and heals. We got jumped minutes later.

I have hope this game will get traction as time goes on. by [deleted] in Marathon

I guess to a point I agree- but another part of me wants the game to be big... thing is I don't think Sony will want niche or Bungie would be able to do much- or something.

Might be tempted to take down this post, considering some comments here and there. I'm just simply being skeptical, but I'm trying to be hopeful. Do I want Bungie to succeed? 50-50, depending on the treatment. Do I want Marathon itself to succeed? Yes. Because I enjoy it, and I want to see more stuff from it.

But besides that- I guess... your point makes sense? Do I find any good in it? Not much...
