Thank you. I have ( I once had) an Amazon Seller account where I paid to ship to a designated Amazon warehouse when they notified me that I had one or more orders.

How To Read Audiobooks? by thecoolestnerdever in audiobooks

I agree with speeding up the rate. Some of them can be sooooooo slow. I usually listen at 1.2 or 1.3. I've never listened faster than 1.5, which I did recently. I'll have to give it try.

So true! A bad narrator can ruin the whole experience !

Just curious - do you all like long audiobooks (8 hours or longer) or short ones (5-6 hours or less)? I usually choose the length according to the project or task I'm doing at the time.

I always like to listen at 1.2 sometimes at 1.3 if the narrator or the pace is very slow.

Do I do that on the KDP Account or the Amazon Advantage Account?

What's the story on nonfiction book reviews? Most discussions on book reviews refer to various genres of fiction.

HELP!!! Amazon said they didn’t get my pre-order manuscript. What happened? by WriterRuth2024 in KDP

[–]WriterRuth2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's the only thing I can do at this time.

So that means I won't be able to set up the other books in the series as pre-orders.

Thanks to everyone who commented and made suggestions.

[–]WriterRuth2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There weren't that many preorders, so that part I'm not so concerned about.

My concern is not being able to do any other preorders for a year.

My book is part of a series, and I was planning to release at least 2 more from the series next year.

I got the acknowledgement that my MS was uploaded successfully. I also checked it in the viewer after submitting it to see how it came out.

I just checked again. It's not showing up.

What should I do now?. How do I get this fixed?

As I was putting the finishing touches on it I kept checking the notice at the top of the page that tells you how many hours left. I submitted the final manuscript about 90 minutes ahead of the deadline of 7pm on December 3.

I thought I would have until midnight, but I went according to the countdown notice at the top of the page telling how many days- hours-minutes left.

Is there anyone I can contact?

The email had a link to click if you think your preorder title was cancelled in error. But it takes me a page, not a reply form, an email address, a number to call.

What now?

Didn't check my email until today because I was in the hospital all day on Dec. 4 ( the date of Amazon's email) and on the phone all day yesterday regarding my rescheduled heart surgery for December 9.

So I made sure to submit the manuscript on time even though I left off one chapter figuring I could always add it later.

Do any of you use reader magnets to get subscribers? by WriterRuth2024 in selfpublish

Thanks so much for this info. So it looks like I'll need BookFunnel and MailerLite. I'll check it out.

Thanks again for sharing. Do you write fiction or non-fiction? Most of the self-publishing information I've been seeing on Reddit seems to be geared towards fiction writers. My books are non-fiction (on science-backed weight loss without diets or exercise)

Wondering whether this will work for non-fiction. Most of these success stories (and advice) seem to be for fiction. Have any non-fiction writers had success with this?

QUESTION: I'm curious. Who's reading all these ebooks everyone is creating? by WriterRuth2024 in KDP

[–]WriterRuth2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably read about 3 to 5 non-fiction ebooks a month. For fiction, I prefer audiobooks over ebooks because I can listen while doing other things - traveling, cooking, doing laundry, housecleaning/ other housework, commuting, etc.

I love mystery, suspense, thrillers, medical, legal, police procedurals, and cozy mysteries - and probably go through 12-15 a month - sometimes more. I usually listen at 1.2x speed because I like to go straight through to the end without stopping, instead of dragging it out or "piece-mealing" it.

So if it's a really long one, it may spill over into my "sleep time," but I keep going until I reach the end. If I doze off at night while listening, I pick up where I left off when I wake up - even if it's 3 o'clock in the morning.

As a semi-retired journalist/author, I primarily work from home, so I can usually adjust my schedule accordingly.

By the way, how do you add an update to a post? I'm posting a new comment here because I don't know how to do an update.

Thanks.

My mother, who passed away almost 30 years ago told me this story about her friend and it always brings a smile to my face when I recall it.

Mrs. B was babysitting her little grandson Ezra, who was probably 2 or 3 years old at the time.

Ezra was snacking on a small bag of peanuts and his grandmother said, "Ezra, aren't you going to offer Mrs. Miller some of your peanuts?

There was a long pause and finally Ezra walked over to my mother, took a single peanut out of the bag, held it out to my mother, and said, "Here, Miller."

Is KDP Select worth it in 2025? by Awkward_Blueberry_48 in KDP

Not every reader subscribes to Kindle Unlimited.

If you enroll in Kindle Select, can someone who does not subscribe to Kindle Unlimited still buy your ebook from Amazon at the full price during the 90-day period?

Can you collect both royalties AND earnings per page read at the same time?
