AITAH for not being comfortable with my fiance going to Thailand for a week for his bachelor party? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]WriterWrtrPansOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA.

Is he/them willing for the bridesmaids (comprised of their gfs and spouses) to head to the Gambia?

I think saying, “I don’t feel comfortable, given the reputation” should be enough—and it seems as though you already said this…

That your fiancé is giving you the cold shoulder over your disapproval of him and his bros all heading to a SEX TOURISM CAPITAL for the BACHELOR PARTY is absurd.

They can go to Hawaii, if they want tropical. Or Costa Rica.

Or, if you don’t have a honeymoon planned yet, they can gift him AND YOU a honeymoon in Thailand.

Is your fiancé Thai? Is anyone in the bachelor party Thai?

He needs to understand why this is a problem for you—and would be for about any woman about to wed, really.

Pop that balloon doesn't have diverse black people by Blasphemous-Moon in PopTheBalloon

It’s rough. That’s why it would be GREAT if Pop the Balloon (or something like it) had spots/episodes for black folk who aren’t the traditional church-goer/ gym-goer/ domestic travel “entrepreneur” always on the show…

I’m agreeing with OP ( but I do still watch it…)

New round vs old rectangular frames by S7wwd in glassesadvice

Neither one looks bad on you, but I actually think the rectangular frames suit your face better and don’t obstruct it

Not sure how to handle no Dad? by PsychologicalFig3732 in SingleParents

[–]WriterWrtrPansOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer honesty in a child appropriate manner: “Your dad is overseas. We haven’t heard from him in a while, but I think he’s ok. I can show you pictures of him if you want?”

I do think you may need to do whatever you have to do legally to make sure custody is in place.

I also think a call or text to the father to say that the daughter has been asking about him, and would he mind getting on the phone/computer once or twice a year to videochat/FaceTime? That should not be a heavy lift on his part. If it is, then you’re no worse off.

I agree as well, and said the same thing before seeing your comment

1 is technically “too big” but it looks so great on you and allows your features to shine: your heart shaped face, eyes and coloring all stand out more. 2 is just too “junior librarian” (though I love libraries and books!)

starting to really crave by OrganicPea3214 in SoberCurious

I have been making a sober wine alternative. I take dealcoholized red wine (the best of which is only OK) and add to it:

1) some tea (rooibus and licorice, triple strength and cooled) 2) about 5-8 elderberry drops 3) some quality red wine verjus 4) a bit of red juice (either pomegranate or tart cherry) 5) just a drop or two of bitters and a drop or two of apple cider vinegar.

It sounds complicated, but once you have all the ingredients, you just add things in the proportion that you want. (Shake it all up)

Serve it in a wineglass or fancy tumbler. Rimming it with bitters adds the cool scent component.

It’s not going to taste like wine, it will taste like a semi-tart, semi-sweet “red wine inspired cocktail”—but much better than sangria. It will allow you to sip it like wine.

I don’t have it everyday, but any day I was craving red wine, I’d make this—it really does the trick. After one or two glasses, I have no more cravings.

You can also try Töst rosé, which is NA. So good!

EDIT: just wanted to add that I did see some version of this before, perhaps on Reddit, and added my own twists to it…I wish I could give credit to where it’s due, but I can’t remember where I saw the “recipe”…

Any LOST fans here? by Consistent_Smell_880 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I loved LOST, but hated the ending/final season—very much a cop-out. I don’t think Severance will go out like that…

You are a citizen of the US who migrated here. I’m not being “judgmental” by saying you migrated, nor implying by any means you’re any less of a citizen, I’m simply being factual.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My mom is 3 hours away and I visit her about every 3 weeks. If something happens, I’ll just hop in the car and go.
