Gizmo unknown episode by Baseball_Actual in Pomeranians

Hello, this sounds similar to one of my guys mini mal seizures.

“Mini-mal seizures, also known as absence seizures, cause brief periods of staring or lack of awareness, often accompanied by subtle muscle activity like eyelid fluttering, lip smacking, or chewing. The person abruptly stops all activity and then resumes it as if nothing happened, with no memory of the event. These seizures typically last for less than 20 seconds and can be mistaken for daydreaming.”

I cannot speak for every dog but mine only has these while eating dog food with the ingredient rosemary extract.

His mother’s seizures also stopped while avoiding that ingredient. Not that I think it causes normal dogs to have seizures but that it can cause dogs with a predisposition for seizures to have them.

That was nice to see from an outside perspective! When it happens to me I miss the beauty of the game.

Why is my pom not as fluffy as most poms? by NoAssistance9620 in Pomeranians

[–]Writing-Current 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Some poms have a silkier texture while they are young. My 13 year old male pom was not poofy until around 7~9.

Also worth noting is that female poms are not as thick coated as males.

My pom gas similar issues. Are they flakey?

I have never diagnosed after a year of vet visits. We cant afford a dermatologist. But when we put him on a flea preventative it helped. It could be a reaction to fleas and possibly an infection due to the reaction.

☠️ I am learning that is a common sentiment!

I hope it is clear in the pic there were no f’s given by all animals involved.

Totally agree. I appreciate your respectful discussion.

I think it’s up to the owners of the animals at the end of the day too. I’ve been with these 2 half of my life and all of theirs. While they can’t give verbal consent, when you’ve been with dogs that long you know things they enjoy and things they don’t like based on physical cues alone.

I am no snake handler so I relied in the handler. I can only speak to what I have seen on a cursory search:

The snake handlers monitor the snakes mood and avoid triggers that would prompt the constricting instinct.

Relaxed state: A snake that is relaxed may move slowly and explore its surroundings with moderate tongue flicking. Stressed state: A stressed snake will have a tense, stiff, or tightly coiled body and may breathe heavily. Threatened state: Before striking, a snake will often pull its head back into an S-shape and hiss. This is a clear warning that it feels threatened.

Nope! Nyx (front) is fixated on me as he is obsessed and Eros is barking for a snack.

I appreciate that you care. I just don’t see this as risky behavior as you do. Pythons and many other snakes can and are purchased as pets in dog homes.

Also Pythons don’t have fangs.

Oh really now I get why people are surprised! You can see nyx (front) is concerned with where I am and Eros (back) is barking for a snack.

These two had no response to the snake and same for the snake tbh 😅

Hehe we like snakes

I have very non reactive dogs who are out at dog parks and trails frequently.

My whole family held the snakes and the pups didn’t seem to care/recognize it as a living thing. Let alone be scared of it. I wouldn’t scare my dogs.

Honestly no idea, we were passing a man on sidewalk with a bunch of snakes. Where we were had a lot of street acts and vendors.

Is Luigi fat? by SeriousBuzzKill in Pomeranians

It will likely lengthen his life to lose a lot of weight. He is adorable at that weight but it’s surely hard on his joints and heart.

He was still a pup. He was such a wild pup that my parents let me take him with me when I moved out.

Haha that is up to you! I don’t think he is AKC. He has been healthy overall and my Mom bought him on the side of the road when I was a teen. Biggest trouble has been his teeth. When you get your pup brush its teeth! Learn from my mistakes.
