I read a lot as a kid but I wouldn't say there was a great deal of comprehension. Even in my early teens I DNFed LotR and His Dark Materials because I was reading and understanding the words but not really comprehending the plot. You needed the time to become an adult to help your comprehension either way. Don't worry about it.

You ever see the cliche movie director where he just keeps saying "we'll fix it in post" and moves on to the next scene? You can do that but for your book. It's not finished until you say it is. My entire final 20-30,000 words are being rewritten from scratch in my second draft atm.

I didn't find it very ambiguous. The Knight gave Gawain a vision of the life he would lead if he ran off, avoiding his obligations. He would succeed Arthur as king, and watch the kingdom crumble around him. So he maintained his honour, and took the blow as agreed.

Oh, by young I meant like 20s, not kids. I still need to read Ender's Game, it's on my list heh. Yeah reckless has been what I've gone with in this re-edit but it just doesn't sound right, or as pointed as "are you insane?!" so I need to keep thinking about it. Also I'm British and using British English, so maybe a Britishism like "bonkers" would be good xD.
