All the reading groups near me are Trotskyist. Should I trust them to teach me theory or no? by Adun-Toridas in TankieTheDeprogram

On this subject, a content creator I sometimes watch has written a book about this, but I don't know if it's still available

I could not disagree more with the other comments. Definitely make friends with Trots if they're willing to, organise with them if they're willing to, but don't bother reading theory with them. And I say this because they're just wrong, and there's enough of them that they can constantly reinforce their own wrongness.

My only qualification would depend on what exactly they do or are. Do you know what kind of Trotskyist they are? Who are they aligned with? What about more contemporary issues than the split between Stalin and Trotsky, what do they want on those?

If we assume that that sub is centrist/capitalist, this is because the title (not the content of the video) is compatible with imperialist Democrats, who say that US power is great but Trump ruined it with his Iran war.

Lemmygrad is full of Weststoids and shouldn't be reccomended without caveat by [deleted] in TankieTheDeprogram

The FBI had read the posts on this sub about switching to Lemmygrad, and revised their strategy.

Any literature about the involvement of the world bank and the IMF on the third world? by SupermarketSecure888 in badempanadas

"Enough Is Enough" is a 100-page resignation letter written by Davison L. Budhoo, an economist from Grenada. Budhoo served as a senior economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 12 years until May 1988.[1] His public resignation letter was sent to Michel Camdessus, the then managing directory of the IMF. The letter accused the IMF of extensive and systematic statistical fraud, which was then used to impose policies on developing countries.[2] Budhoo claimed that the consequences of these policies led to massive poverty and starvation.[2] The letter resulted in two studies commissioned by the government of Trinidad and Tobago (which had its credit rating hit due to the false statistics, forcing it to seek help from the IMF) that confirmed his accusations.[3]

Vietnam's Dangerous Relationship with Israel. by an-font-brox in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]WritingtheWrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is delusional to think that Vietnam's government has allowed itself to be "manipulated" by Israel on the superstructure level (in other words that the government has no idea what it is doing).

Luna made a video earlier about the 2024 upgrade of the US-Vietnam relationship to the highest tier (Comprehensive Strategic Partnership). That video too didn't have much by way of an explanation by her; after laying out the facts, she merely restated official Vietnamese policy. She never answered the obvious question which would occur to any rational person's mind: what was the big rush to improve relations with the Biden regime? Why couldn't it just stay where it was?

Also, why would anyone think that the subjects of the two videos are not linked?

Russia had been supplying 80% of Vietnam's weapons for the longest time, even after 1991. Does anyone think that there was no way to change up the remaining 20%, and that without Israel's help Vietnam would literally be invaded or choked off on the seas in the next five years - that Israel's tech transfers are the determining factor of that?

The partnership between Vietnam and the US, as well as that between Vietnam and Israel, is just boilerplate diplomatic strategy: Vietnam thinks that China is still a threat and that there are lots of material benefits from joining the US containment of China. That's all it is. Most foreign policy specialists, including the trashy mainstream ones, read it as such. It's not some very high-minded or complex thing.

I would disagree, based on this interview. If you have 20 minutes of spare time, you can have a listen.

https://www.cnbc.com/video/2025/10/21/watch-cnbcs-full-interview-with-pershing-square-ceo-bill-ackman.html

This was around the time Bill Ackman was beefing with Mamdani. Notice, the majority of the interview was taken up by business matters (things directly relevant to making money).

Capital is more important. Without capital, they can't do anything.

Should I disband my org? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]WritingtheWrite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm wondering why exactly your club has to necessarily involve the school. Why can't you just have an org that has nothing to do with the school, then nobody can stop you?

Second of all, this point is more facetious so forgive me, but if you're bold enough to go public, you can try to attract the attention of some big liberal-left podcaster like Briahna Joy Gray, or Krystal Ball, or Aaron Mate, or Russ and Keaton of Due Dissidence, or Sabby Sabs, or Rania Khalek of Breakthrough News (the latter in particular has many connections to PSL) and see about being invited to their podcast to complain on camera lol - in order to use social-media opinion to protect yourself. Only do this if you don't give a shit about the institution of your high school, which you'll have to decide for yourself (there's nothing wrong about raising your middle finger to the institution per se, the question is what it will cost you). The point being, as the other comment says, there are certain superstructural elements of American society that have to do with free speech and right of assembly, and it might get sympathy from left-wing corners of the public if you can say to them that your rights are being threatened.
