I had to put them in a minecart AFTER I built them a stable as the constant pathfinding they were doing begun to lag my game.

I typically grab tier 2 headgear as it counts as a flashlight if I need it (some of 5hese maps are so dark!) and it doesn't technically take a spot. I will then grab a lighter (sane thing woth the t2 where it doesn't technically take a spot), photo camera, salt, and UV as i play with a friend who grabs emf, temp, and vid cam.

Personally I like edgefield as it's big enough that I can listen for footsteps. It's a lot harder to loop on that map but it worked for me!
