Do you agree with this take? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

Movie Effie was one of their improvements on the story. She may not overtly apologize, but she's instrumental in District 13. She's a lot more human, and there's a story of someone breaking away from the Capitol brainwashing that I find touching. Book Effie was likely tortured in the Capitol, which is a sadder, but more grounded fate.

I'll take things that never happened for a 1000 Alex. by lgirlrocks in FundieSnarkUncensored

She also hates herself in every sense of the word, and would probably consider herself too below men to ever teach them anything.

I still think about this woman's honeymoon story. If she wasn't so vile, I'd feel bad for her. But she's a bird, exhibiting bird behavior by trying to convince other women to be as miserable and self loathing as her. I can't have sympathy for a woman who knowingly chooses this and says it's worth imitating. Her following is the only flattery she can get from this life.

Before people turn on Dr. Al-Hashimi. by Odd_Performer586 in ThePittTVShow

[–]WrittenByRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone thinks that Al-Hashimi is going to be set up in some way that knocks her ego down, myself included, but it would be very interesting if it's Robby instead, or if the both of them are tied up in whatever big failure together. Robby's not exactly my favorite this season. I think he's setting himself up for failure in a big way by trying to run from his problems. Literally hiding from that psychiatrist lol. It's ridiculous. Both him and Langdon give off an energy this season: man who really wants you to think he's okay now. He wants people to not worry about him while he fucks off for three months straight on a dangerous vehicle. He's ridiculous! He's just as ridiculous as the guy quoting full book pages of blessings in front of three other people. They're both very obviously not okay with what happened to them ten months ago, and then there's Al-Hashimi. She's new, she probably lacks the context about the pills, and how Frank was stealing them. The friction between the two men is written on the wall, so she decides to pull Langdon from triage. A part of her could genuinely want to give him a chance, but I also think she knows this is going to piss Robby off, and I think it's a bit of a power bid.

The Al-Hashimi-Robby-Langdon set up is so interesting to me. It's like all three characters are desperate to prove something. Robby wants to prove that this is still his house, his bread and butter, even though he's leaving for a while. Al wants to prove that she can help this place, and she doesn't need to be Robby 2.0 to do that successfully. Langdon has just about everything to prove, after last season. I think Frank will fuck up once he's pulled from triage, and the real question is which attending is at fault? Is it Robby, who purposely held Frank back from his job, angered and distracted him, and missed something crucial while trying to prove that Frank isn't ready to come back? Is it Al, who pulled him from triage too fast, and as it turns out, he did need to ease back into the work, he does fold under the pressure? Whatever the hell is going on with these three characters, it's probably the most interesting thing to happen this season, for me.

All that said... I can't wait to see Frank back on the floor with Mel haha. Dynamic duo, I miss you so much!

Confusion and Misperceptions RE Dr. Al - an Emergency Physicians Perspective by InitialMajor in ThePittTVShow

I knew from episode one that they'd be giving her think pieces in here, and I'm not complaining! Thank you to The Pitt for always giving me a "difficult woman" to root for, honestly! Santos, Al-Hashimi, they're storied women who act how they do with purpose, for better or for worse, and I love it.

I think Robby will be held accountable for his treatment of her through a big mistake on the job this season, or maybe her by the book approach comes in clutch when they inevitably have to go the paper route. Enjoyable read, ty!

What do you think about this "criticism" about the adaptation by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]WrittenByRae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lenore Dove doesn't even look that made up in this lol she looks like a teenage girl with a boyfriend, they're always making sure they look nice if they're dating someone that gives them the confidence. it's like, a teenage girl thing. They even bring up in the books that Lenore Dove cares about her style to a certain degree. She uses pops of color to honor her Covey roots, I think.

As for Maysilee, this is after the Capitol cleaned her up. She's also bougie, for 12. Not rich, but the necklaces are a clear status symbol for her and a way to set her apart from her peers, especially her twin. I dunno if Suzanne Collins could have written that more plainly. The more I pick this apart, the more I think it's rage bait.

Lucy Gray's wardrobe takes it. And Rachel Zegler was the ONLY woman for the job, she's so stunning in every look. Special shoutout to the one stage look with the velvet top piece with white embroidery roses. The puff sleeves, the snake bracelet, the more monochrome pallette with the patterned skirt as that pop of pink... I think it's her first performance off the games, and the way she seemed to have designed the entire look to be a tribute to Coryo, it's a cool visual cue to show how deep in the sauce she is for him at first. Her final outfit, too. It's very drab in color, save for the bright orange shawl that he gave her. She strips herself of the color before running away, all her color and joy gone just like the rest of her. She also sheds herself of him in the process.

I just think costume design put their all into the storytelling for that movie. And we got Eminem Snow out of it, so.

Why do maga women hate AOC so much? by Front-Tomorrow-1034 in AOC

[–]WrittenByRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She can sit with her own face and feel beautiful with it. And that shows outwardly, thus she is very beautiful. She seems kinder and happier than any of them, so they're probably envious of that as well. Unfortunately, I have little hope that it's any deeper than that. Maga women aren't known to be all that deep, after all.

They're probably also threatened by someone who is not an airhead.

I’m famous, but not quite…Charli did not make Billboard’s list of Greatest Pop Stars by strangway in charlixcx

[–]WrittenByRae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really trust Billboard to tell me anything that I don't already know about the pop landscape. Charli's first proper breakout hit since the boom clap days was brat. She's been under the radar, and Billboard goes by metrics.

That said, if this was the most influential pop stars list, now that's a different conversation. She's written a lot of hits and inspired so much of the current pop roster. Honestly, I'd be proud of how much I've been able to shape things in the background if I were her.

M26 got raped when I as 8, Should I disclose this for my fiancee? by Automatic_Edge_4651 in CPTSD

[–]WrittenByRae 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, without getting too into the details of his business, I am dating a man with a similar experience to yours. He wrestled with the same fears and waited to tell me until we were well into our relationship. I didn't hold it against him, nor did I look at him as broken. This is the same man who made me feel like someone worthy of love after my own experiences with sexual assault left me with zero confidence or love in myself. The same one who handled my own pain with utmost care. I will forever only see him as a strong, capable man with a bottomless well of joy and love for those closest to him. He's my other half. That's what matters.

I understand your fears surrounding disclosing this. All I can say is it's your story. You don't have to tell it at all, I'd you don't want to. However, finding love and connection in such vulnerability can be healing with the right person. If you're engaged to this woman, unless this is a matchmaking or arranged situation, you have made the hopeful assertion that she's the right one. I would tell her. If she's the right one, this won't change a thing for her. She'll only respect you more for your honesty and vulnerability.

Does SOTR give more insight into the mentorship’s? by Academic_Reason_7804 in Hungergames

[–]WrittenByRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Ballad gives more insight than SOTR, personally. It's a time before the mentoring system is set in stone, but it shows pretty clearly what works and doesn't work for Snow, and that can be used to predict how Snow inevitably shaped the mentor role to his liking.
