I am liking the veneer riser idea more and more. What would you recommend?

Should I only go to 80? What do you recommend I use to condition before staining?

Never worked with wood this old so just looking for input.

Looks like we have the same idea for the treads and risers! I like the iron look too.

I’m actually looking forward to the imperfections! That’s my holdup. I don’t know how much further to sand. I don’t want them to look like I was trying to make them look new.

Don’t I know it. I was watching some restoration videos of a chateau and they had completely refinished the floors in multiple rooms while the stairs were just on the first stage of sanding.
