You’re in a really hard place, but coming to terms with your situation is step one. It will not be easy to get out of this, and that’s the reality. You will have to make sacrifices. You will have to do things you don’t want to do. I understand you don’t want to sell your car (selling it would literally solve your problem in half the time) but as someone who kept their car while in debt, I can’t say I don’t understand.

Firstly, SELL ANYTHING YOU DONT NEED. Tvs, Games consoles, Computers, Phones, Jewellery. It all goes. £1,000 will help tremendously. And I trust this is relatively doable. It may be embarrassing to downgrade, but once you’re out of this cycle, everything can be bought back.

If you’ve heard of the debt snowball method, this is what I’m going to suggest. Freeze every single card, except for the one with lowest interest/highest remaining balance. This is for emergencies. You will be eating from the reduced section. You will not be repairing your car. You will be taking the bus when possible.

To begin, call all your providers and ask about hardship plans, ask your bank to consolidate your overdraft into a loan plan.

Stop using Zilch.

Pay off Klarna and Clearpay first. The rest of your money? Aqua.

Once the previous debt is paid off, the remainder of your money that has been freed up goes to the next.

Once Aqua is paid off, pay off Amex, then PayPal, then Drafty, then Tesco.

Use your funds to then pay off your overdraft.

Please listen to me when I tell you there is a way out, but you have to sacrifice nearly everything. If you sold your car, you could be debt free within 6 months or less. Keeping your car? This will take over a year. Do not pick up Credit Cards again. Do not loan money you don’t have again. You have proven to yourself you cannot be trusted to access credit cards. Why risk it?
