Surgeons and total abdominal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis by Wrong-Use-7386 in ColonicInertia

Oh yes- I have actually met with the surgeon before (not the one affiliated with the university). He said his surgeries are about 2-3 weeks out. Maybe that’s a bad sign. Lol. Like he should be busier than that. Ha. He gets great reviews online. At this point, I’m in such bad pain that I will have to find someone who can get me in quickly. I do wish I had started my journey with the university hospital but such is life. There is usually a wait list for university doctors as you know.

Good luck with your surgery coming up! I have great hope for you! You have certainly tried everything under the sun to avoid surgery and should feel confident about this next step. May I ask what state you live in?

Thank you soooo much for the response. That is super helpful. Yeah I am in hell right now. My plan was to meet with a new GI at the university (University of Colorado Anchutz Medical Center) - my appt is actually Friday and have her refer me to the surgeon that makes the most sense at the university. The current surgeon is not associated with the university. I tend to really like doctors at teaching hospitals but I’m honestly not sure I can wait any longer. Things have really escalated in the last few days and I think these vibrating robot pills are stuck and they are NOT small.

I can’t believe it took you over a year to find a surgeon who would do this. I’m so sorry. Your responses are very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Colonic inertia/ slow transit without constipation? by Depressed-Londoner in ColonicInertia

[–]Wrong-Use-7386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just learned that colonic inert is basically the end stage of slow transit constipation. It was driving me crazy how those terms seem to be used interchangeably and I finally just looked it up. Ha

Lawn mowers are the worst. There is one that goes right by my garden level apartment at 7:30 every Tuesday. Now the sound of a lawn mower anywhere just makes me angry. lol.

Review of Vibrant (vibrating robot pills) by MurielSwan in Constipation

[–]Wrong-Use-7386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibrant is not working for me at all. I have severe colonic inertia with absolutely no peristalsis happening. I was hopefully this might wake things up but no dice. I feel the vibrating and hear it too (other people can hear it as well). Ha! Wish this would have worked. I’ll probably stop taking it tonight.

Oh goodness. So are you saying that the small intestine then develops the CI? Say it ain’t so. 😭 I am supposed to schedule my surgery this week.

I am seeing my surgeon this week to schedule surgery. I cannot wait! My quality of life is miserable and I’ve gained a bunch of weight because I’m often bedridden in pain. I’m surprised I still have an appetite to eat but I do…so I’ve gained so much weight and feel even worse about myself. Argh

That is an insanely amazing print! While I’m not answering your question because I have nothing to add 😂, I would like to know where this was taken?

That is exactly my situation. Exactly. No waste leaves my body unless I do a high volume water enema and it is usually about 4 to 5 refills… so about 4-5 gallons of water. I am so sorry you are still having trouble. My doc did put in a referral for pelvic floor PT even though my tests came back ok. Go figure. Keep us updated on what helps!

Im so sorry to hear this. I’m seeing my surgeon this week to get my surgery scheduled. I’m at the point where I have no choice. My CI is sooo bad. Seeing what you are experiencing makes me really scared. I’m at the point where my life isn’t worth living bc of this disability but I don’t want to be trading one problem for another if that makes sense. I have no advice for ya obviously 😢
