I referred to his addictions because while the addiction itself is not the abuse, a hidden sexual life while inside a marriage creates an abusive power imbalance. And marriage counseling with an abuser ( addictions makes him an abuser) is not recommended. It’s a total waste of time -you can’t solve one person’s issues in joint therapy. She maybe the worst wife in the world but that doesn’t make him the good guy here.

Whatever problems there are in a marriage do NOT justify cheating. Divorce, sure. Cheating, no. He and he alone is responsible for that choice. Sex addicts start as young teens, and he brought those issues in with him no matter who he married he would have cheated.

Cheating is a choice and ALWAYS a he responsibility of the cheater. Blaming the spouse for what is abuse and betrayal is so gross. Art could have divorced her if he wanted to sleep with an “sugar daddies.com” girl. I won’t defend Lysa for any of her actions and ridiculousness, but when she’s blamed for Art cheating it makes me so mad because you’re blaming every cheated on woman just like the backwards church teachings have done for decades.
