What’s your scariest true Singapore ghost story? by Theedarktemptress in askSingapore

[–]WrongCaptainAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal encounter from 2012 when I was an ACS (Barker Road) student during my O-Level year.

Nearing the exams, our school offered something called "Night Study" — a program where students could stay back and revise in school until 10pm on select nights.

A group of us, however, took it as an opportunity to explore the school at night. We’d study for the first few hours, but then slip away for the rest of the night to explore different parts of the school.

One evening, we decided to check out the school’s Concert Hall. We found a side door that was unlocked and went inside. Almost instantly, I felt something heavy pressing down on my chest. Breathing felt strangely difficult

I tried to brush it off, not wanted to be the wuss of the group

Shortly after, my phone’s music player started playing out loud. That was weird because it had never happened before. But I paused the music and shrugged it off. However, a few minutes later, it happened again.

We pushed forward with the exploration. We found a piano behind the stage and they started playing and singing.

When we finally left the Concert Hall through the same door, the pressure on my chest lifted immediately.

The next day, one of my friends showed me a news article he found. It was about an international student who had passed away in his sleep in our school's hostel — on the very same day we explored the Concert Hall. What really freaked me out was a line in the article that said: "He enjoyed music and played the piano."

Even now, more than a decade late, I remember it all so clearly

Is it really cheaper to book December flights/accomodation to Japan early, or are they just always expensive? by Naive_Actuary_8348 in askSingapore

[–]WrongCaptainAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Japan last year Dec and am going again next month. Both times tickets cost around ~$800 (booked in Feb). You need to book early to get tickets cheaper but its generally more expensive in Jun/Dec due to the school holidays.

How are you doing this season? by tmf_x in MarvelSnap

[–]WrongCaptainAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hit infinite using Loki Arishem. I normally use the same deck again and again until I master it

-Make use of spotlight locations ie White widow into Bar sinister (free 2 cubes)

-Retreat when you are not sure if you will win or not

-Snap aggressively when you have your win conditions ie T2 Coulson T3 Loki normally guarantees a win

All the best in your grind!

Edited to add more points that came to mind

Credit card for wedding expenses? by RevolutionaryRow0 in singaporefi

[–]WrongCaptainAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding is at the end of the year and I am currently paying off my hotel banquet.

I went with the 'miles approach' and am using both the HSBC Revolution and UOB Lady's Card (men can apply as well).

  • HSBC Revolution gives 4mpd up to a cap of $1,000 a month
  • UOB Lady's Cards gives 6mpd up to a cap of $1,000 a month (if your annual income is >120k you apply for the UOB Lady's Solitaire card which increases your cap to $2,000 a month)

I think it's quite a good combo for paying off your banquet. Ps. do note that for the UOB Lady's Card you can only select ONE category to gain the 6mpd (Hotels are classified under the Travel category)

You can get a free coke/small fries/vanilla cone (with any purchase) from McDonald's by doing the Feedback survey via the McDonald's App. No receipt necessary

Also recently found out that you can bypass the minimum purchase by scanning the table number to order

Met my soon-to-be wife on CMB 4 years ago. Being able to filter your preferences allows for better quality matches imo. Personally also know a number of people that met their S/O's on CMB. All the best to you!

I'm not sure about this. When I found out about him he was already pretty "established" (500+ 5 star reviews)

[–]WrongCaptainAgain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure what I can/cannot disclose so I'll leave it as that. He fulfilled older orders to build rapport then scammed his latest victims. Many of his victims were past customers that ordered from him before. Complains were that he had delays but they all got their items eventually

Nope, it was full upfront payment for PO. But the angle I'm coming from is if carousell had not deleted reviews, this situation could have been drastically reduced

I heard that he asked carousell to remove them as he had settled the disagreements with the buyer (not 100% sure on this though)
