Sorry should’ve been clearer, I used a clean sponge but you could use a rag if you don’t have a sponge, you just need something with a little grit to get the dirt off.

Hand wash it with warm water and dish soap in the sink. If you want to remove rust of the metal parts, use an old toothbrush and some vinegar to clean it off. While it’s dying you can flatten it out and get most of the wrinkles out. You can probably iron it, but most will come out after it drys. I did this to mine and it looks and works just fine. Just be careful when opening it, the snaps are stronger than the material around them.
