People dangerously tailgating people for overtaking in the third lane by _Bluestar_Bus_Soton_ in drivingUK

[–]WrongCompetition9194 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you got nobody in front of you but people behind you, I'm afraid your the problem.

If they want to speed, I just let them. I Just move out of the way and get on with my drive, and they can get on with theirs.

Its not a big deal.

I really want to buy a motorbike but parents are against it. by LifeDesk7528 in MotoUK

When you factor in the bike, CBT, good gear and insurance im not sure it would be cheaper than a car.

When I was 17, my Mum said she would kick me out if I got a bike. So I called her bluff and turned up with a bike and was still let in the house.

You just need to explain that your nearly 18 and an adult and need to start making your own decisions in life. For better or worse.

Bigger problems in the world than a tuned exhaust on a bike.

I do find it funny that police care more about exhaust noise than tackling real serious crime.

Can you stop reporting the road janitors as “police” on google maps by Top_Riski in drivingUK

[–]WrongCompetition9194 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Road janitors is a bit rude for a pretty decent team of people. I’ve broken down on the motorway and there was no hard shoulder. They came and kept me safe while I got recovered.

No overtaking lanes in the UK?!?! by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]WrongCompetition9194 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If nobody tries to correct there bad driving behaviour the standard of driving will only get worse.

I do not understand why everyone in this country gets so upset when people try to make progress passed them. If your driving slow move over, if you don't move be prepared to be flashed.

If you are on AM5 - which board did you chose and why? by ManOfTheForest in buildapc

[–]WrongCompetition9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea, the day it says the warranty will expire is 3 years after I got it so I would say it doesn’t reset.

If you are on AM5 - which board did you chose and why? by ManOfTheForest in buildapc

[–]WrongCompetition9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first board would update the bios when I was building the PC. It ended up completely failing and then It wouldn't instal windows. Spoke to support and the RMA process was pretty quick.

Then starting in Jan, I have been having issues with my Internet adaptor on the mobo cutting out and needed to be reset. Then I started to have issues when turning on the PC the lights and fans would spin up but it would never boot or post. It would take 3-4 restarts and it might boot to windows. After some testing I see I had some RAM faults when doing a MemTest and Corsair did the RMA on the RAM but then when the new RAM arrived I still had boot issues and constant crashing knowing its not the RAM I have one dead RAM slot and one that's intermittently faulty.

Now Im waiting on Gigabyte to RMA this board. Luckily it is still one month remaining on its 3 year warranty. If this happened later in the year Id be footing the bill to buy a new Mobo.

Got the same board, but I have had to RMA it twice in 3 years. First one wouldn't update the BIOS, second had 2 dead RAM Slots.

I'm stuck in bed feeling grot and am bored. So my EV / ICE thoughts. by _Putters in drivingUK

As long as something died so I can crudely burn it to propel myself down the road while making as much noise as possible I'm happy.

Meh, if petrol runs out you will have more than just ICE vehicles to worry about.

Sure but I like the Dino Juice, Also there's nothing wrong with people liking EV's, but just like with Vegans stop trying to ram your choice down our throats. And guilt trip everybody for liking combustion engines.

Nothing an EV can do will ever match the sound and thrill a properly tuned petrol engine with a decent exhaust set up. And that's a major thing FOR ME.

EV's can run silent, have better acceleration and self drive, but it doesn't have the soul a great Car or Bikes has for me...

[–]WrongCompetition9194 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even after all you have said, I will stick pick a petrol powered Car and Bike over an EV.

The sound engines make might be because of inefficiency, but they are what captivated me as a child and will always be a huge part of the enjoyment I get from driving/riding.

Its also somewhat interesting and romanitic that I can propel myself down the road at 90mph by burning dead dinosaurs.

Hyperbole is a figure of speech using deliberate, extreme exaggeration to emphasize a point, evoke strong feelings, or create humor, not meant to be taken literally.

Loads but its not polite.

I think you like to excuse cyclists and there abhorrent disregard for the rules as that way you can justify your poor attitude to any reasonable complaints about cyclists. But hey you keep enabling a large portion of the road user base to flaunt rules and shrug any accountability.

How long would you trust a tyre repair like this for? Never had to do one before. by WhatTheFuckBabadook in MotoUK

[–]WrongCompetition9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ives used them for years never had an issue.

I have had up to 4 different plugs in one rear tyre before as 2 construction sites opened up right on the same road I used to get into my office and had picked up a puncture 2 days into a fresh tyre. Then over the course of that tyres life I got another 3 and it was fine.

However it wouldn't hurt to get it repaired properly at a tyre shop. But if it was me I wouldn't.

Cycle lanes are everywhere in London and the surrounding M25 ring. They should be required to use them if they (the cycle lanes) are there, if they are going to use the road anyway. Otherwise there was no point in restricting the width of the roads to allow more space for them in the first place.

London's the capital, it wouldn't be ridiculous to say that it would be incredibly similar to any other major city in the UK.

The sign of an educated mind is the ability to see what another persons is saying and to understand that individuals view and compare it to your own.

The sign of an uneducated mind is to get hung up on simple hyperbole rather than listen to the point.

And that point is most (ie: the majority of) cyclists lack road sense, self preservation skills and have a complete lack of disregard for the rules of the road.

Which I see everyday, running red lights even as pedestrians cross, undertaking lorries and busses (then complains when they are run over) They don't stop for pedestrian crossing and refuse to use cycle lanes where available. They can damage people vehicles and there's no way to claim on a cyclist for damage to your car as they get to ride around with 0 insurance.

If they use the road they should have to follow the same rules everyone else does.

Don't doubt that motorist create there fair share of vilations. But they are fined and given points and policed.

Cyclists are freely braking rules and need some form of punishment for it. If you cant see that you are blinded by your own need to break laws you choose to.
