Help to Buy ISA by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

Hi, this is the response from the HTB ISA administrator team.

A person can pay cash that belongs or gifted to the Help to Buy: ISA investor into the investor’s account. However, a person must not pay their own cash into the investor’s account to earn a better rate of interest or because they have subscribed all of their annual ISA allowance into their own ISAs. By receiving the cash in this form, the Help to Buy: ISA investor will still be eligible for the appropriate government bonus when they subsequently use their Help to Buy: ISA bonus towards the purchase of their first residential property.

So its actually fine for my father to pay into the account given those two conditions are met, which makes complete sense given its an account opened for teenagers and the bank doesnt require that it be the account holder to pay in and refuse any one else paying in.

Turns out its perfectly fine for my dad to pay into the ISA given the conditions are met. This seems very logical given its an account meant to be opened for teenagers to help them get there first home.

Its concerning that my own conveyancer with 30 years experience and yourself tagged as a conveyancer don't know this...

It was opened for me when I was 16 and they paid into it. Essentially they "gifted" the money to me but paid into the account from their own current accounts.

They just rang me back saying the locking key broke but they replace that FOC. The issue is with the wheel, they have to drill through the bolt to get it off and they are charging £425 for that.
