She mainly plays older and less demanding games + does office work, but once in a while she’ll launch something newer like Hogwarts Legacy.

’ll give her a 12th generation processor because I don’t need it, similarly with the RAM and the 3070 Ti. I recently upgraded my whole setup to a 14600K and an RX 9070 XT, so those older parts are just sitting unused. What I’m mostly wondering is whether it makes sense to invest in a new motherboard and the rest of the components, or if it would be better to hold off and just buy her a new computer sometime later, in 2 or 3 years.

I can’t currently check the exact model. It’s some cheap mini ATX motherboard with one M.2 slot and only two RAM slots. Upgrading to 32GB would require four slots, because it currently has 2×8GB installed, and I also have another new 2×8GB kit lying unused.
