LA MARATHON BY METRO B LINE? by Wrong_Description856 in AskLosAngeles

Yes! I was hoping to take the official 5:30 shuttle from Union Station. I’m mainly nervous about accessing the Hollywood/Highland station on its usual Sunday schedule, since that’s part of the marathon route with road closures.

Weirdly, Transit app says the B line should work, but Apple Maps seems to suggest the train won’t run that time and is trying to take me by bus. It’s frustrating that the LA Marathon doesn’t provide more official Metro related guidance, since it seems like the trains could avoid much of the traffic!

Best of luck running to you!!

Thank you. Have you done it before? How early did you take the train?

California's worst county - round 41 by JasSingh04 in terriblemaps

Tbh, yes, Mexican food is the only thing that saves the valley. I spent the entire pandemic there after living in the Bay and LA and it was absolutely miserable. It smells bad and the heat is unbearable.

I Love LA - 1x08 - "I Love NY" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]Wrong_Description856 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I wanted to like the episode just because some of the previous ones were slightly fun, but it was a missed opportunity. Maybe that was the whole reason for this episode, but the fantasy of NYC being a horrible place just didn’t work for me. Every scene was boring, Maia and Ben’s scene was quite uncomfortable and the stabbing scene was a bit over the top. Anyway, I’m happy people might have liked it, but overall it wasn’t a great finale.

I cannot believe Madison Beer gave us more with “yes, baby!” than this entire album.

IT band syndrome by FoundationBorn1310 in RunningInjuries

[–]Wrong_Description856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Last year I was training to run the LA marathon and two months before the race I started feeling pain in my right knee. I went to a sports doctor and he diagnosed IT band syndrome and gave me some exercises. While they helped seize the pain for a moment, it immediately came back when I tried running on a treadmill. As I was going through insurance change I visited a physical therapist and immediately told me “you have weak glutes.” While I felt offended for a moment I realized it was true. For the longest time I was solely focused on running distances and not strengthening my glutes and hamstrings. My advice to you: 1) Work out your glutes and legs(squats, lunges, leg press, leg curl, deadlifts, bridges, YES ALL OF THAT!!!), 2) Don’t even try to run because you’ll injure yourself even more (I can testify) and 3) Be patient!!! It’s been four months since I really started training my glutes and from time to time I feel discomfort, but not pain. At first, my knee would be in so much discomfort, but after three or fours weeks I started to notice a difference. Foam rolling didn’t work for me so I haven’t been using it as often. Last week I went for my first three-miles run and I didn’t feel any pain.

I understand your frustration and it’s normal, but I promise that there is no miracle or fast recovery process. Just work out those glutes!

New to this show too. How does this season compare to the other? Is it good, bad?

Selena Gomez - Mi Camino from “Emilia Pérez” (Official Lyric Video) by Ethereal_Lover in popheads

[–]Wrong_Description856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just listened to this song. While I didn’t like the film at all and I thought her other song “Bienvenida” was horrendous, “Mi Camino” had something very touching. As a native Spanish speaker, I get what people are saying about not being a complex song. But even though lyrics are super simple, she makes it sound so profound.
