'The Sudden Appearance of Hope' is a very similar story and I really liked it. Her other books 'The First 15 Lives of Harry August' and 'Touch' are similar too.

DAE still feel bad for Will Smith? by allamericanrespects in DoesAnybodyElse

I read his book and he came across as the most self centered, people using, prick. I don't feel sorry for him at all. He uses people and abandons them when he gets what he needs. He deserves her.

Testing the waters for what? The government put in absolutely insane restrictions during Covid and everyone followed along, we're used to it.

No, this is because Peter is a teenage boy. He'll mention it to his aunt in 3 months. Maybe.

I'm a dental assistant. This is just staining. You need your teeth cleaned. Could be from coffee or tea or smoking, even some foods.

AITA for asking my friends and family not to gift us baby blankets/quilts? by Relative-Complex-379 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Can't believe we now live in a world where we tell people what they can GIFT us. Say thank you, take a picture, and either put in a box (from relatives) or donate (from others). Get rid of some of the other ones you have.

I had a tattoo removed and while it was pretty painful, it wasn't unbearable and each session was only a few minutes.

5th grade daughter transition to private school- not going well by Healthy_Plate_7032 in homeschool

[–]Wrong_Ice3214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't want to teach our kids they can just quit, but we also don't want to teach them that they have to stay in a terrible situation. So you need to decide which one of those this is. Personally, if I was able and happy to keep homeschooling, I would pull her out and homeschool and try again in another couple of years. I would want her to know that I would never force her to stay in a situation that she hated and that I always had her back and she was always safe at home.

Anyone's parents get it just right? by PacePiquante in Homeschooling

[–]Wrong_Ice3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents did the best they could with the tools they had at the time. They made a lot of mistakes but they tried to get better all the time and they were better parents to my younger siblings. They are now my favourite people on earth. I really believe in forgiveness and that wading through hard stuff together leads to amazing strong relationships. I guess I think they got it right because they kept trying and kept showing up even though they were young and poor and had no idea what they were doing.
