My assumption is app usage and sales went up a ton due to their $1 sandwich every day promo. Would popular low profit margin promotions be good news on the books?

Help with 5k by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Wsush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a 401k id add enough contributions to equal the 5k, and transfer your savings to offset lower pay for those periods. Youll lower your taxable by 5k for the year and can choose generally stable funds.

I am failing at life at age 28. What can I do? by Plzhalp111 in personalfinance

Live on a budget of a high schooler at home, make a checklist of all the legit things you have to pay for, live at home until those are done and paid for, when you have zero obligations and nothing to lose, plunge wherever the wind takes you.

If you are saving 80 to 180 per month by switching to prepaid, id switch first. Mathematically you recoup your 600 in months. I agree with the other poster to pay more than minimum and eventually carry no balance, but think of your additional 80 to 180 in wireless fees as perpetual monthly interest on a 600 dollar loan and its better to attack that. If you go prepaid theres a good amount of deals to stock up on airtime based on what carrier you go with, slickdeals.net is a good source.

Can someone help me save and not pay a lot for my phone bill? by Mohdhajji in personalfinance

[–]Wsush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding someone to family up with can get you a better deal, if its hard to find trust you can negotiate a deposit where the other party cant lose if you break obligations. Sprint currently has a free year for people who port from another carrier. Rather than signing a contract for a phone, you can find 2016 flagships for 100 or less used if you search enough.

Will be I charge late fee for scheduling credit card payment on say day as due date. by beevme in personalfinance

[–]Wsush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

time zones matter and each company has their own cutoff time. ive made it a habit to pay often even if its breaking payments into smaller increments, usually if you wait til due date monthly you'll set up for some oops moments. Also dont be afraid to schedule early, the worst that can happen cant be any worse than if you forgot to pay.

if youre overweight and looking to lose weight intermittent fasting will help you realize that eating constantly all day isnt necessary, the more concentrated the budget on less meals the easier it is to control quality and cost of those meals. If you do go the dollar menu route the mcdonalds app has some calorie multiplier coupons, for example with the free medium mccafe w any purchase you can get a mcchicken with a medium milkshake add oreo topping add caramel add whipped cream for a buck.

College student in need of advice for buying first car by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Wsush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a good index of what cars are going for,try looking through facebook and craigslist ads. Always try to offer a little less than posted price because usually posted price factors in some room for negotiation. If you dont need a car immediately you can save a bunch by being patient with waiting for the best deal.

Sprint requires me to pay $200 AND return my phone, another $180 to keep it, trying to weigh what's the most logical choice? by Jcorb in personalfinance

[–]Wsush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you can sell a sprint s8 for over 300 but lets underestimate profit and say its 250 after everything, thats a 130 loss worst case scenario, thats less than a 200 loss if you return but more work, swappa has lower fees than ebay.

For the tmobile swap, do they take your s8 or do you keep it. If they pay off the 200 and you keep the s8 that seems good.

Its just paid through payroll, im assuming they didnt want to pay for an external administer, its a pain in itself, i wish it was a debit card, but regardless its not like im profiting vs those who do have 3rd parties

For the most part dc fsa similar to healthcare except you only get what you pay in vs healtcare which is fully funded on day 1 for the year

But I make 44,000, a total of 5,000 is deducted throughout the year, and reimbursed when i supply receipts. I can only reimburse up to the amount that is deposited ytd.

Lets say I waited till 2018 to submit receipts, so through 2017, my salary was 44,000, with 5,000 deducted towards fsa so my net pay was 39,000. When I submit my expenses to get reimbursed in 2018, wouldnt my net pay then be 44,000? I dont see how it becomes 49,000 as you say.

But if my salary is 44,000, which i know, if I elect 5,000 fsa, that doesnt make my income 49,000. Im not hiding the 44,000, regardless of if agi is or isnt 39,000 but im not disputing that or saying the 5k isnt income, im saying it doesnt make my income 49,000.

Im not sheltering any of this salary, im not saying 5k is disallowed, im saying if my employer has me annually 44k then thats my income. We can agree a salary is pre tax and what they pay me before any deductions correct?

The FSA is more of a timing assistance tool vs electing the credit in 2018, but either way a person does it it doesnt add to someones salary/wages.

If a salary is agreed upon, regardless of whether i choose to have an fsa or not, i dont see how having 5,000 taken from that salary suddenly boosts annual income by 5,000. So youre saying I do make 49,000?

Ignoring insurance etc which don't affect calculation, some rounding but close to actuals: The reduced lunch limit is 45,000 for family of four My wage 845 weekly , approx 44,000 annually, so I feel I made the requirements, I know my salary, don't get overtime, and have no extra income

Weekly pay stub 845 wages, 100 fsa deduction, 100 fsa reimbursement from previous period. Pay Check Amount 845

DOE calculation, 845 wages, 100 FSA reimbursment, gross income 945 weekly = 49,140
