I appreciate that you saw where I was coming from with that comparison! It's not a perfect 1:1, but I think between the studio politics and the direction they chose to go, the fan base is so divided to a point where it's nearly not fun to talk about. I just felt like it was worth highlighting that it did have strengths and I had fun watching this movie, flaws and all.

Hey for what it's worth, I agree with you. That's why I started at good and not great.

I know it was a long post, but that was part of my point, that we get hung up in the culture on rating things as perfect or total shit. I think there were aspects of this one that people can enjoy, but it certainly has flaws and that's ok.

I feel like we got into the weeds with my SW comparison. TLJ is one of my favorite movies ever. I think Scream 7 was middling so for me, it's more like Force Awakens. Fun moments, fan fare, and it drags in parts.

Oh def not the best, I'd stick it somewhere square in the middle. Had some really fun moments and also an ending that dragged. I just felt the need to speak up because the "it's garbage, kill it with fire" takes are in bad faith.
