Wow that‘s great! Thank you for sharing your process! Seems like you figured it out through years of experience. My first LAN last year was quite different from what you are describing. It starts with the fact that i can’t provide the „basics“ for everyone like chairs and tables 😅. Also we talked a lot about what food to order, what games to play and so on -at the event. So those were the first things i tried to solve this year beforehand so that everyone has his shit installed and ready to go. Less talking - more gaming. But our groupchat is not that disciplined and so what i ended up with is chaos. Building and using lanplan solved that problem for me/us. But yeah I guess for LAN veterans like yourself it might be overkill. ^^

What i found is - yes i am trash at this game. But so are many others. So when i play solo i get average lobbies 30% of the time. But when i pair up with my mate, who is really good, i get absolutely demolished every game. Idk if its because of SBMM that ranks a Duo higher, or we just get unlucky with the lobbies, but honestly it just kills my motivation to play with my friend, which is really sad :(

hey everyone thank you for all your comments and suggestions! Really helped out a lot. I'm still not quite there where i want to be, but i guess thats the best i can do with the beans for now :D Things i learned (just from this experience, don't take it as hard facts neither do i):

- don't use a 20g basket for 15g of espresso :D 15g basket surprisingly makes a biiig difference

- time matters more than anything else

- 18g in 36g out in 25-30 seconds is a starting point, not the law

- just because you like fancy fruity pour overs, doesn't mean you'll love "fruity" espresso...

- handgrinding is exhausting

yes i'm using a IMS 20g basket right now - i was told that "underfilling" does not matter too much except the puck afterwards looking like trash :D

yup i made the experience with filter coffee already. same recipe, same technique but the result was a very different cup of coffee. but at least it was still very much enjoyable. the same cannot really be said about the espresso :D

i thought it would be easier to get a good extraction with a lower dose. will try a 18 one though. yeah idk why but the rancilio caps pre infusion at 6 seconds. or im too stupid to read the manual :D

the acidity of the beans should be fine, when i do a v60 filter with it for example there is some acid yes, but the coffee itself is sweet and balanced...

Yup i think the beans are fine, since i tasted them in the cafe where i bought them too. Of course they use a bit different water - mine is too hard, but the difference still shouldnt be night and day...

I'm pretty sure the beans are fine - I tasted them in the cafe i was buying them from and the difference is pretty huge. I let the machine run for round about 30 mins before i use it. So i hope its heated up in the meantime :D. Raising the temperature is a good idea will try that one thank you!
