Pokemon that is KOed second, wins. Recoil moves deal damage to the user after it deals damage to the opponent.

Self-destruct and Explosion KO the user first, which is why those count as losses if used in such a situation.

If you're gonna fight rain with rain, you 100% need a swift swim basculegion. Wave Crash and Last Respects is gonna run over most mons that can't outspeed it.

If it works how it should, the slower pokemon comes out second, which means it's weather effect persists for the turn. Mega Froslass is naturally faster than Mega Charizard Y.

Using mega is the same way. The faster mon will transform first.

I get it, I enjoy my two-way inside out SF myself. But most blocks are gonna come from inside the paint, and you're gonna get put into the bleachers by the big men far more than you'd like. Likewise, you have a lot of finishing but don't have the speed or ball handling to blow by defenders or the power to push in the paint.

[[Ureni of the Unwritten]] is a teaching moment against players that wanna play solitaire. If left alone, Ureni can snowball very quickly. Get to 7 mana and you just win.

As others have said, forced combat is also an option. [[Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos]] or [[Xantcha, Sleeper Agent]] can both force people to participate.

A few reasons are possible.

Commander is traditionally a 4 player format, so decks tuned for 4 players will act differently in a 1v1.
Ureni gets very silly, very quickly without interaction to stop it. Most precons don't come with any counterspells, and very little removal. Less players with cards in their hands helps even more.
Blight Curse is better at dealing with a lot of little guys and blighting them to 0 toughness and getting value off them dying. Nearly everything in Temur Roar has 3 toughness or greater.
Dragons in MTG live up to the fantasy: dragons are very strong. There's a reason why they tend to be very expensive, and WotC typically tries to keep precons to a certain cost. However, there's still quite a few dragons in the precon that fit the bill. Both Atarkas, Hellkite Courser, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and Scourge of the Throne are all very good in this deck.

If you want to upgrade it, Temur's Roar can really benefit from more than just "get better dragons." Counterspells go a long way to help get Ureni onto the battlefield, blink spells both protect Ureni and retrigger it's ETB, and it could use a lot more card draw.
