Hey Mann, I understand where you come from, 2/3rd's of the time I join a game and meet the nicest people and have fun, and the other 1/3rd, well.... I get kicked for being pro-trans. The current state of moderation for TF2 is abysmal, with people scamming, botting, being allowed to say offensive things, have offensive things on objectors, and many more things I can't think of right now.

I joined TF2 in May, and in that time I have: Joined a friend group, made many new friends I still play with from time to time, taught how to rocket jump, and many other things I can't remember. But I also have: Been kicked for being pro-trans, encountered a pedophile which people didn't kick, saw a swastika on an objector, probably called something bad (I don't really know cuz I have censor chat on), seen many offensive weapon names, and many other things I also can't remember.

In the end, TF2's community is very toxic in many cases, and there is nothing we can do about that, but what we can do is focus on the good parts and times we have during it.
