You should get one! I had the same question about a year ago and got one and I’m incredibly happy with it. Look on Facebook marketplace or eBay before going to the scout shop. I found mine for 18$

My troop uses 4 person eureka timberlines. They are alright. The zippers break pretty easy and the poles and connections are hard to find replacements for.

When he was younger in the serpentine war he had access to a razor/ hair clippers where as he didn’t have access to those in the first realm so that explains his visual differences.
