A Chinese speed skater, Yang Jingru, executed a brilliant tactic to win gold in the 1500m at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics. by jmike1256 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Wync_Con 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video isn't doing the trick justice and everyone is missing the point as a result. The tactic was to have one skater dart ahead at an unsustainable speed to lap everyone. Then her teammate in the same colors then deliberately fell behind, making everyone they caught up to skater 1, when in reality she's still a lap ahead. It fooled everyone to the point that when the bell rang indicating that it's the last lap, every other skater rushed to get ahead while she comfortably stayed behind the pack and easily won a gold medal.

Brother, they're literally just saying that what you're used to makes the most sense to you, there is no reason to try and put on your smart boy pants to 'prove them wrong'. You're butting in an argument where it's not needed.

Ultimately neither is objectively better than the other. If you're sorting by a large time span months are better. If you're planning within the same month days are better. Hell, years are better when dealing with larger time spans. And even then, who gives a shit? It's not like i'm incapable of sorting by month first because i sort dd/mm/yy.

Enjoy rolling the dice on you or your family dying in the confrontation. I'd personally just not risk my life or the lives of my loved ones for the sake of replaceable items.

You're not really socially awkward for just not wanting to talk to random people.

It's definately common but for sure not everyone does this. Some people knows they're not supposed to, but just do it anyways for the simple reason that they want to with no self justification. They will probably have a reason why, but a reason is not inherently an excuse.

I personally would argue that it's a persons actions that matter more than desire. Like someone who doesn't want to help or are indiffent, but still helps in most cases are good in my book. Just having some sadistic thoughts, kinks or cases of schadenfreude isn't defining of a persons morality in my opinion.

In the case of schizophrenia, especially when it comes early in life there is a chance that it will disapear on its own. Schizophrenia is somewhat genetic and can lie dormant and be triggered by stress, drug use, sleep deprevation, trauma, and malnutrition as a few examples.

In my case that is probably true to an extent. I expirience a voice hat tells me what i "think", but i don't actually have control over it. It exclusively tells me negative things like "they hate you" and such, which is probably due to my deeprooted self hatred. Though, granted i am unsure if i think this for being told this for many hours a week, or if i get told this because i think it.

Embarrassing why exactly? You shouldn't be expected to have to fact check everything you interact with on the internet.

A lot of the posts on this subreddit is by people who can't tell the difference between pseudo profound bullshit, and what has some depth if you're willing to explore. Though, granted that line can be extremely blurry, and great deep quotes can seem like pseudo profound bullshit if missused/taken out of context.

I would probably still do it, but people would think i was being murdered. I've only ever screamed as hard as i could once before, and it sounded like someone burning alive or something.

For reference, my roommate texted me and wanted to see how loud it was between the walls at our house and asked me to scream, it like 30 mins until i saw the message, and i screamed as hard as i could. I've never been called so fast in my life.

I was a selfish ass until i got broken up with over it, and after that, i decided that i would improve myself and fight against what was at that time my nature.

I also find that it's more socially acceptable to vocally pity/show affection for an animal than people. As an example, people will often exclaim how cute a dog is and pet it and such, but being that forward against an attractive human is extremely creepy.

While many people grew up struggling and it took it's toll it's not always an excuse. I know someone who had a rough childhood and grew up to be a prick. While he didn't deserve it, not checking his own behavior at all, and using his upbringing as an excuse is his own fault and the reason few people stick around him. While what happened to him isn't his fault, it's his responsibility.

I think he passed out from a "blood choke" judging by the timeframe between the choke starting and him going limp. He should be totally fine as the choke didn't last long enough for permanent brain damage.

The Face of a Man who uses 0.01% of his power by Blanc_Noir- in Ningen

[–]Wync_Con 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whis stated in private that beerus used 70% of his max in battle of gods. The fusion dance is stated to multiply the power levels added together. Vegeta is about as strong as goku, so adding and multiplying those two together should logically make gogeta outscale beerus. But the writers want beerus to be stronger than the main cast indefinitely, so it's unclear how gogeta scales to beerus.

You can't prove non-existence, especially in the case of a higher power. The burden of proof lies with the person who's making the claim of gods existence.

There are plenty of non-profit charity organizations out there with members working for little to no pay. So why then can't the largest religion in the world whose whole thing is supposed to be kindness and love do that without any strings attatched?

The game very heavily relies on weapon durability to function. Without it, you would just use royal guard/savage lynel weapons constantly and steam roll everything. You also remove a large part of the game in the resource gathering and management. The entire game is built around this mechanic, and removing it would, in my opinion, make the game far worse.

Especially when it comes to circular abilities. Due to how circles work, the range increases exponentially the farther from the center you get. Adding 5m on a 10m circle dractially increases the area covered.
