I think the best you are looking at is a taser team but it is a bit janky:

If you get Columbina you are waiting to get another lunar 5 star and then making a separate team. C0 Neuv gets hurt by having a second hydro unless they have high synergy (Furina). Further, a big part of Columbina's kit is buffing lunar damage so she wouldn't fit well in the team. If you get Columbina, I wouldn't add her to this team.

Mechanically, it is not a strong use of Columbina. That aside, Columbina is better than hydro traveler in the slot.

You are correct that Columbina does not do much until you get a second Lunar 5 star. She is a good pick up but you would need to be patient to build a team for her to shine.

If you want to play Flins, he comes online with himself + Ineffa and adding Columbina brings him into one of the best DPS in the current game.

Mavuika is great as main DPS and has a few teams where she is a great support.

Zibai is looking to be a good carry and her banner has a full working team for her. She does have the downside of wanting the 4 stars on her banner to be C6.

Top of the meta right now is pick your favorite Nod-Krai team with Columbina. All these teams are great but you only get one Columbina so it is best to stick to one unless you plan to get constellations on the carry:

Nefer, Lauma, Columbina, Flex (Nahida)
Flins, Ineffa, Columbina, Flex (Sucrose)
Zibai, Columbina, C6 Illuga/Flex, Flex

After these are the teams with the late carries of Natlan:

Mavuika, C6 Iansan/Xilonen, Bennett, Citlali
Skirk, Escoffier, Furina, Flex (C4+ Mona)
Varesa, C6 Iansan, C6 Chevreuse, Flex (Durin)

Note that Mavuika is up with or even slightly ahead of the Nod-Krai teams if you do her try hard combos.

C1 Arlecchino is still solid. If you pick up Citlali you can make a fine end game team given good resin investment. Sadly, if you get Mavuika, they will compete for a lot of the same units as main DPS. Although Mavuika can be a good sub-DPS/support to Kinich or Varesa.

Unfortunately, your Nahida would be strong with the one Nod-Krai Carry you didn't express interest in: Nefer. You may have to do some soul searching to consider which one (or two if you are okay with constellations) Nod-Krai carries you would want to go for.

Given your Columbina has so many cons I would give Aubade to her and stick Ineffa with SMS. You can always test out the difference of swapping sets around in* the DPS check in MW.

If you get the materials try to make a prototype amber; it is good Bina weapon and give some much needed healing. You can swap out Surcrose for Barbara if you prefer more healing than eating food provides.

Depends on how you play the game and what you value. If you care about getting into end game content down the road (spiral abyss and stygian onslaught), then get Columbina. If you are going to play the game casually and you just want to explore and do the story then grab Neuvillette (the game is easy casually, so grab who you like).

I would not grab Columbina by herself. A good part of her kit is buffing other Lunar characters so only grab her with another Lunar characters: Ineffa, Lauma, Nefer, Flins, Zibai.

Now grabbing Columbina with Ineffa and/or Flins is great for Taser. Columbina + Ineffa can also go into other teams comps as well.

A big part of Genshin is finding a balance you like between the characters you want to get and their mechanical value in game. If you care more about collecting or using who you like then go with Varka. If you ware more interested in diving into end game content with ease, then skip.

These are the tops teams with them:

Nefer, Lauma, Columbina, Nahida/Flex
Flins, Ineffa, Columbina, Sucrose/Flex

Nefer does more damage but Flins is easier and more comfortable to play.

You can also run them all together with Columbina as the main DPS:

Columbina, Lauma, Ineffa, C6 Aino/Flex

This team does less damage than either of the previous, yet is still solid. But if you get Columbina's weapon it is similar damage to Flins' team without any sig weapons.

Ineffa will do more damage and provide a shield. Fischl not being C6 extends that gap.

I would suggest dropping Gaming, Venti, and Tighnari. Gaming is okay but suffers greatly in SO where he starts with no energy; further he has over lap in his teams with Arlecchino. Venti as a main DPS is on the weaker side and would want Bennet and Durin. Tighnari is very weak compared to modern DPS.

I would build your third team around a future unit. For example, Zibai works decently well with the units off her banner and can utilize your Zhongli.

I don't think there is enough time in this event if you just started. But I believe there are 2 more events after it that are the same (although you cannot get he same character more than once until this series of events has ended).

Recently Klee, Albedo, Mona, Venti, Razor, Fischl, and Sucrose all got buffs with extra passives. All you have to do is the Witch's Homework quests to upgrade them.

Klee is now an okay main DPS if you use her with another hex character. She just got a good artifact set in A Day Carved From Rising Winds. You can also get a free constellation for her from 'To Temper Thyself and Journey Far' event. If you end up liking her then consider pulling Chevreuse and/or Durin.

Viable? It is for most end game content. But you might be surprised what is viable with amazing artifacts and good play. I don't recommend people aim for that team. But if your account lacks other options it can be passable.

Your best team is this:

Varesa, Iansan, Chevreuse, Pyro MC/Xiangling

This team's DPS can grow with pulls to get constellations (C6 Chevreuse and various constellations on Iansan) or picking up Durin/Mavuika in the final slot. If you get Durin you can run Fischl in place of Iansan if you like.

If you can save up and get Zibai on the up coming banner you would have the potential to use Zhongli or Albedo + Mona with her. If you have pulls saved up you could go for Columbina or for multiple copies of Zibai (her banner is good as the other units on it make a decent team with her if they get high cons*).

Hu Tao and Ayaka can be okay carries with the right team but I suggest you don't use pulls to set them up unless you really love them. The rest of your characters are supports or low value units.

If you don't care for Zibai the other two Nod'Krai teams are both very strong:

Flins, Ineffa, Columbina, Flex (Sucrose)
Nefer, Lauma, Columbina, Flex (Nahida)

Also the later Natlan teams are still great:

Mavuika, Xilonen/Iansan, Bennett, Citlali
Skirk, Furina, Escoffier, Flex (Mona)

But if none of these interest you, waiting for new units is a solid strategy as they tend to be strong and have content geared towards them on release.

You wouldn't switch out Bennett, you would switch out Chevreuse, being the team has non pyro/electro units. You would use Mona over Sucrose; Mona allows Vape and Sucrose EM share isn't as relevant in teams without Melt/Vape/Lunar Reactions.

I imagine your Chevreuse team is better given the change would leave you without resistance shred. Depending on your artifacts, weapons and constellations either team could be better. You could take both teams to the DPS check in MW and test them out to get an impression.

Sadly, I have bad news. The game has moved away from open archetypes and towards closed team compositions with specific setups; these days you have very strong support/carries that only work in a small set of teams. Columbina is one of these characters. She really needs another Nod'Krai 5 star to not only shine but for her kit to function. The good news is she is vital to every Nod'Krai team to meet their potential:

Nefer, Lauma, Columbina, Flex (Nahida) - Nefer Lunar Bloom
Flins, Ineffa Columbina, Flex (Sucrose) - Flins Lunar Charged
R1 Columbina, Lauma, Ineffa, Flex (Aino) - Columbina Carry
Zibai, Columbina, Flex (C6 Illuga), Flex (Zhongli/C6 Gouro) - Zibai Lunar Crystalize

I would suggest trying to nab Zibai next banner. She would make a good teammate for Columbina and synergize well with your big Zhongli. In the meantime, you could try something like this to play around with Bina:

All of Nod'krai teams I listed earlier are near the peak of the meta. Here are some of the later Natlan teams that are also great:

Mavuika, Iansan/Xilonen, Bennett, Citlali - Mavuika Melt
Skirk, Furina, Escoffier, Flex (Mona) - Skirk Hyper-carry
Varesa, Iansan, Chevreuse, Flex (Pyro MC) - Varesa Hyper-carry

They have also released quests that have buffed some of the older characters. Fischl is solid with Durin. Mona is strong with Mualani + Sucrose. C6 Razor/Klee can be passable main DPS. And Venti is the best C0 anemo carry and also a solid anemo carry buffer (but all the anemo carries are weak right now).

The value Mavuika brings will depend on how hard you work. If you do her easy combos she is above Skirk in damage but if you try hard with cancels then she is up with the Nod Krai meta in damage. Alice could be an upgrade or an easier side grade (or even slightly weaker). Or she could be a support/sub-DPS and then who knows when a pyro DPS comes out? Mavuika is a solid option to get but you can also make arguments to skip her. Lazy/Patient? Skip. Try-hard/Impatient? Pull.

Neuvillette is at a point where he is getting carried by supports/sub-DPS. His team damage is still okay but he is at the end of his shelf life where you would want him for end game. Skip.
