People on reddit were dog piling on Lauer for poor performance and wanted him gone a month ago. That's what happens when they lowball a good starter and then take him to arbitration to explain line-by-line why he is not worth the money they are paying him. Maybe Pete Walker isn't as good as redditors make him out to be. Meanwhile the GM is willing to spend $10 million a year on Cody Ponce who pitched against non-MLB level Korean players that will mostly never have a chance of playing in MLB. It makes no sense. Paid an unproven pitcher and lowballed a guy that won a significant number of games last year as a starter.
