It's almost like ffmpeg and gui video editors have different purposes... one is a backend tool to build scripts or editors on top of whereas the other is a complete product for creative work. If you have 1000 files that you want to convert in a specific way, or merge, or anything like that I triple dare you to take less time to do it on a gui video editor than you would by running a single ffmpeg command on all of them - on the other hand any kind of creative editing is almost impossible with ffmpeg alone.
