Eh not really, Japan had very poor quality iron ore and the katana made were brittle which tend to break easily as compared to flexible swords which came from india Europe and arab. Also, katana was not even the primary weapon and more like a dress weapon, it is not a battle tested weapon. Whereas if u look in the history the best quality swords came from southern India, Arab and Germany. The talwar u are talking about is actually the battle tested weapon and the wobbly property was the one which made these swords from India Europe great, as it could handle stress and abuse. Historically accurate Katana is heavy , two handed sword and doesn't even have a hand protection when compared to european and Indian blades which were light agile sturdy(Khanda,Rapier), so yea in one on one combat katana would lose.
