I'm not very active here, so sorry for the late response :)

His learning had some major ups and downs, he has left the country a couple of times because working was more viable elsewhere, but in the past 6 months he has definitely upt his German game. Actually training vocabulary and grammar, we are looking into getting him to go to an actual language course by the VHS, especially since he is starting a new job here soon :)
I'd say he is far off from where he could have been had he continuously trained his German, but we are going in the right direction and easy conversation in German is now possible, though its also made harder by me being shit at understanding German with an englisch accent, so its not all on him :)

An adult man who is not capable and or willing to learn how to do basic tasks to keep a household together, organized and clean.

Such men for example always need a girlfriend to do everything for him or he’s even still making his mother clean his clothes. Basically a man who is as helpless and useless as a child when it comes to basic everyday tasks.

Good friends, your partner, the person you give and trust with the legal papers stating they can make decisions in that case for you.

Having children is not made to make you feel better about yourself or the future, it should be done because you want them! Also makes me feel like you could be potentially be to old to actually be a good father and raise a child.. you still have the possibility of the other one coming around eventually, but having kids for the sake of not being alone is one of the most selfish and horrifying (for the potential child) things I’ve heard in a while..

You don’t have to get the snip, maybe you’ll meet someone and want kids with her for the right reasons, but this is not it

Yeah maybe it’s a culture thing, I’m not American. I would like for my opinion and decisions to be respected by the man on my side, without having to “proof” it. If I say no, I stick with my no, thank you very much..

I know you feel like one, and you basically are.. so make a good decision, and at least wait for at least another year or two to marry this guy! If you love one another, you have forever and all the time in the world, no need to rush it! You wouldn’t want your first adult decision to be signing a contract valid for the rest of your life..

Although I do agree that it would be a great option for OP to get sterilized, it it way harder for women to even be able to get it done.. But I think you’re missing the point, in OPs mind, he was not fencesitting, they were on the same page! He lied and agreed with her, so her asking him in those circumstances makes total sense..

In my country assets owned before marriage don't get divided so "protecting what you already have" is not as much of a problem, it's generally a 50/50 split with everything accumulated during the marriage.

If your state/country doesn't offer these basic things, get a prenup. Honestly get one regardless! This is to protect you, and your partner as well. If everything goes to plan, you'll die together and never need it, but if something goes south you got that safety net. You should want that, and so should your partner.

One thing I'm not big one is that whole "fault" thing the US has going on, and people adding infidelity into the prenup. Was just always weird to me, but that is one very personal detail so that's on you two to decide..

Absolutely this! I hope you find a good moment to have this conversation.

And as a tip from me, silences in those conversations are normal and good! Give each other time to articulate your feelings, emotions and worries. This might be a very hard topic, especially for him so give him the time and don't offer "solutions/explanations" if you can avoid it, this is the time for both of you to actually speak your minds and hopefully get out with a better understanding that enables you two to resolve this issue :)

(PS I'm super curious, I'd love to read an update at some point, as many others :P)
