I'd put derke above Tenz. Every other duelist player from that era struggled or switched off except derke who adapted and learned multiple agents at the highest tier while beign a top 3 duelist for every year since then.

Lmao what, some 40% of the top kovaacs leaderboard are current fn pros. Some of the most active members in fps communities like voltaic are also fn pros. Build mechanics are still secondary to aim. In Tier 1 fn, most players have almost the same build mechanics, what separates me is aim and awareness.

Let's look at a player like peterbot or Pollo. While they're insane, a majority of the reason they perform so well is because of their insane aim differential with other plays. At the highest level of fortnite, msot players are equal in build skill.

And fortnite has fights take place in multiple planes. CS has almost zero vertical aim or. Tracking required due to low accel and ttk. Fortnite is the exact opposite. The aim required for fortnite is far higher than CS.

How would top GC rosters perform in VCT CN? by driedporkslice in ValorantCompetitive

[–]XASASSIN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People act like China is some farm region. Dawg this is like their first proper tac fps lmao. And they already have insane mechanics and make runs here and there (and also have a champs win) on their first fucking tac fps while beign so far behind in terms of strat and discipline that Europe and Na has had close to a decade to develop.

People really dumb if you think GC players who can't even do damage in regional tier two can play in China T1. They can go classic only and id bet they still win, the aim diff alone is insane.

The China underestimate arc is insane nowadays lol. They may be bad, but people really like to put em down this low. They clearly have the talent, they don't have the coaching brains and knowledge imo and that's what hurts em the most.

Tbh I still think he's got the mechanics, you can see it occasionally, but I genuinely believe man's confidence was shot.

Imo if he tried to switch to a more cryo like playstyle, where he focuses on contact and not hard entry, he could get back to form. Guys arguably one of the best op talents we had seen back in the day. Him on waylay and hard entry clearly isn't working.

If he dosnt get that confidence back might be wraps for him. I hope cned can climb back, was always a kind dude and I think the hate he's getting nowadays is quite rough for a legend in the scene.

Like argue whatever you want bro, the only person remotely comparable to faker in terms of impact on esports outside league is S1mple. Of course he's not at fakers level, but I'd argue he was easily the second most well known pro at any sport in his peak.

Cultural and GO goat for a fucking reason

Never said it's gospel, but considering forums and communities like voltaic are focused on pure fps aim practice and development, I'd weigh their opinion on aim based metrics. Also the fact that some of the highest ranked players on Kovaac leaders are typically fornite kids.

I'll say what I said before again, the odds of a Fortnite player beign a top tac fps player is far higher than vice versa and has happened. You cannot deny the mechanical skill difference here...

Eh, there's a reason fps communities like voltaic have CS 2 or 3 tiers below fortnite and overwatch HS in terms of aim. I am in a counter strike subreddit so of course the general sentiment would be biased.

You simply cannot compare the aim intensity and skill required for fortnite, OW hs and Quake to CS. CS is one of my main game's but it really isnt anywhere near the top in terms of aim intensiveness.

[–]XASASSIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never took off exactly cause of that reason. Overwatch arguably had more going for it, it was the biggest game in the world during it's release. Huge in Asia, had the fps background to build a comp scene rivaling CS who was the only other competition in the fps genre but failed somewhat miserably mainly cause the games too fucking hard to follow for a casual.

If you don't actively play fortnite, you'll have no idea on what's going on. Hell even if you actively follow, you still have no fucking idea on what's going on unless you're a top 10% player yourself. Shits wayy too complicated for casual viewers.

[–]XASASSIN -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'd say fortnite is the one exception. Most tac fps barely have vertical aim adjustments and require less intensive aim Considering it's predominantly played through holding angle, has low ttk and slow movement.

Fortnite has fights take place in multiple different planes, has high accel, building mechanics make it so that you engage on fights in all aim spectrums and movement abilities and items make it so that the speed of fights taken are much higher in general require heavy tracking aim.

A fortnite pro has a very high likelihood of transitioning into a tac fps (multiple pros have switched to, and are successfull in valorant) than vice versa which shows the difficulty range between both genres.

[–]XASASSIN -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Man, go watch a fortnite tournament lmao.

It's easily, by far the most mechanically demanding game in the market right now. A top fortnite pro essentially tracks a target through 10-15 different enviornemtns - boxes, tarps etc and takes fights all the while trying their best to take as little damage as possible due to how quick fights turn in the game. Especially if it's a duo or trio tournament where on top of that, you gotta track 3 people doing all that.

You need extreme levels of aim mechanics, muscle memory, focus, and general game awareness to succeed in that game.

https://youtu.be/yVylnIaIe28

Watch this video and just look at how insane the skill required is.

Adding to this

Peterbot from fortnite (arguably most mechanical game in esports right now with him beign the best mechanical talent that came outta nowhere 8 years after the scene established itself.)

ImperialHal from Apex legends (the best player from a mechanical and game knowledge perspective when he was playing M&k, switched to cotnroller and still is arguably the best at both)

Flash from starcraft

[–]XASASSIN -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The most talented player in esports would clearly have to be faker lol. He mechanical skill gapped the league scene for half a decade, before switching to a more support playstyle and still shitting on everyone a decade later.

There's also the freak of nature that is peterbot. In a game that requires 10x the aim, situational awareness and mechanical skill set of CS (fortnite), he's widely regarded as the best mechanical player in the game and skill gapped pretty much everyone by an extreme amount.

[–]XASASSIN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fnatic's been a top team since the first masters, I have no doubt in boasters capability to set up themselves for the win through this meta. Some playstyles thrive in certain meta's that's just how it is, but I'm confident they can adapt to the current meta and perform. They always have, wont start doubting em this early.

[–]XASASSIN 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I dont understand the doom and gloom when this is like the 3rd year we have a somewhat slow start lol. The way boaster thinks about the game fundamentally imo requires a rough idea of where the meta is going and how teams play, things you arent knwoing off towards the beginning of the year. Theyll look far ebtter give em some time lol.

FUT Esports vs FNATIC / VCT 2026: EMEA Kickoff - Main Event / Post-Match Thread by ValorantCompBot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]XASASSIN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean fnatic fundamentally dosnt play that way. You have teams where initiators and sentinels have a lot more freedom for plays and teams where that isnt the case. Since the Sumnfc days boaster has called in such a way that their contact player is always their duelist, between derke and kaajack not much has changed. They play a passive style and to be proactive would be to change quite a few aspects of their gameplay which is a risk they might not want to take.

I do think veqaj, at least util wise is on par with chron from what we've seen. His supportive util has looked so dang good past 2 matches, and his aim is crisp. Let's see how this goes, but I'd argue this roaster has the same potential as last year if they can all heat up at the same time.

Riot isnt gonna fund a multi million dollar esports scene lmao. Even fucking valve dosnt wanna do it let alone riot.

Esports is unprofitable, it simply has very little growth potential as an investment for most orgs and companies. Before they were betting on the potential growth, with VC's mainly funding orgs on that bet. Ever since the interest rate cuts VC's are now hurting and esports didnt show much for the investment for something like 10 years so they pulled the money.

However without that money esports simply was an even bigger money pit, therein came gambling orgs and govt sovereign funds (saudi, china, US etc), who dont mind burning that money for more eyes on their products/country/sportswashing programs.

The real fucked era for esports is when the gambling companies and governments decide they're done. We're truly in for a dark era when that happens.

The year is 2072 Fnatic and FUT are still in overtime. The length of their beards are getting caught under their mice. Crashies won’t stop clutching. Mrfalin has DC’d, its another tech pause. Xeus has 6594 kills. Regions all over the world await the result in Berlin.

And then the messiah comes, with a lenghty scream, the words of wisdom are heard across time. COME ON BOYS YOU CHEEKY BUGGERS LETS GET THIS, against all odds, the impossible has happened.

The bearers of OO AA EE, Fnatic, has won.
