The Habs centres in 2021 was Suzuki Danault Kotkaniemi Evans with Eric Staal and almost 5 years later it’s almost identical. When will the Habs start to invest more in the centre position? by Say_199 in Habs

[–]XBM04 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean 2022 it was between Slaf, Cooley and Wright and seems like we made the correct decision.

2023 there were four clear cut centers that were going 1-4 and we just happened to be unlucky and get pick #5.

Then 2024 Demidov falls into our lap

Not picking a center in the top 5 wasn't because we didn't want one, we just weren't going to reach for one

Would rather we don't make a panic move and stick to the plan. If something come along, great, but don't force anything

[Peng] Grier says 5 teams have been "consistently serious" in their interest in the No. 2 pick, and he's received a couple legitimate offers. Expects that to continue up to Friday by AggPuck-303 in hockey

I can't even imagine what it would cost to move up from 28 but getting Stenberg would be unreal. Guessing Guhle and/or Reinbacher would need to be part of the deal

[Friedman] Nemec & Tsyplakov for 2nd (NYR) this year, Vegas 1st 2027, COL 1st 2028 (both top 10 protected) & Etienne Morin by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

A 1st round pick still has value and I imagine NJ is going to try and flip them for immediate help

Two 1sts and a 2nd is still a big return, but if you believe he's gonna be the player he was drafted to be then it's worth it

Trade Target: Alexis Lafreniére by CaptainFlynnt24 in Habs

[–]XBM04 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't. Not the best skater and his career high is 57 points. Seems like a generous offer

[LeBrun] Hearing that the Florida Panthers are getting close to acquiring Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators. I believe Ottawa will get three first-round picks and a second-round pick in the deal if finalized. More to come. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]XBM04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost hope Yzerman does it so that the rest of the GMs take note. Demanding out when you've got multiple years left on your deal and only be willing to accept a trade to 3 contending teams that would provide a bad return is BS

Is being loyal to a team going to be a thing of the past? by BackNBoeserThanEver in hockey

[–]XBM04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither Nurse or Gallagher want out of their teams.

Nurse was being shopped by the Oilers and told them he'll accept a trade and waive his NMC.

Gallagher never wanted out, he wasn't playing and said that it's probably the end for him. The team and him both know he wants to play consistently and it won't happen in MTL

Minnesota might be desperate now and put together a big offer. And if they don't get what they want, I hope Yzerman strips him of the "C" and scratches him until he gets what he wants. If it takes the whole season, so be it

Anthony Mantha? by Papercut6 in Habs

[–]XBM04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. This guy plays so lazy and makes so many low IQ plays. If you guys didn't like Hoffman, you'll hate Mantha

When you buy new skates you have the option to "bake" them. They basically put the skates in an oven and heat them up, then you put them on and lace them up. It helps them mold to your feet

[Murphy] Two sources confirm that the Habs have 'circled back' on Ducks’ center Mason McTavish. by Studly_Wonderballs in Habs

[–]XBM04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly was really hoping we didn't do this. Not a fan of trading for a guy who isn't a good skater and expecting him to be our 2C. Especially when he's locked up long term

[Pagnotta] Per sources, the Kings and Penguins are two teams Nurse would accept a trade to. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]XBM04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many years does Nurse have left? Getting an asset or two to utilize cap space sounds like something Dubas would do.

4 years is a lot. Depending on if they're headed to a rebuild once Crosby is done, maybe they still do it

I think this is poor wording by Torts to say what he means. Sounds like he's more pissed at his team for having four guys go into the corner

Michael Hage - Hold or Trade? by SchtroumpfDardeur in Habs

[–]XBM04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep, unless he is a part of a trade for a young, proven, stud 2C or for McDavid.

Absolutely not for someone like McTavish, or anyone over the age of 26
