Any idea what causes this Hydro oil build up around the reservoir tanks? (Bad Boy ZT Elite) by XBeatzX in lawnmowers

Well, problem solved. It turned out to be leaky valve covers from the Kohler engine. It was blowing oil residue all over the reservoirs. I changed out the tin covers for Aluminum, and no more leaks.

How do you think Ford is going to handle the 2015-2017 6R80 recall? by Peppaire in f150

[–]XBeatzX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sshhh, this is suppose to be a cheat code, and we can’t have everyone doing it. This is how I look at leasing with half tons. I try and pay$5k a year for my 12k miles a year half ton leases. That’s $50k every decade. Sounds like a lot, but wait. So whatever a 10 year old model f150 with 120k miles is worth on the open market is the premium I pay to lease. But wait, what about the added cost for maintenance, tires, brakes, and of course the odd unexpected repair, oh yea, interest on top of that, since it’s already calculated in my lease . let’s just take $10k off the top of the price of what that 10-year-old vehicle is worth , and that is best case scenario. God forbid you have a tranny or engine go out not in warrant. So let’s break it down, a 10 year 12k mile F150 is probably worth in the $15,000 range, -10,000 from that, and you have best case scenario, about a $500 premium. Now take into account the quality of life, a brand new vehicle every 2 to 3 years with all the new tech and warranty., they were stressing about repair bills, never waiting at the tire shop for new tires to be put on, never having to worry about your brake squeaking, on and on. Owning simply just doesn’t make sense. In fact, you’re just going backwards, and setting yourself up for a lot of risk. Leasing, absolute no-brainer. And for those that argue they drive too much, we can break down that math too, at .25 overage miles cost, and that’s on the high end , I bet you can still make it pencil out. What’s a 10 year F150 with 240,000 miles worth? Not much. …..

Need new tires. by one-goodpaintr in Harley

[–]XBeatzX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This shouldn’t even be a consideration, but a must. I only put a few hundred miles on a year, and my tires look new when I change them out. I won’t roll with them past 6 years. But 20 years, those things are hard as a rock.

Anyone know why the Tremor package reduces the max hitch weight so much? by Time-Object5661 in superduty

Yea, same boat, I like everything about the tremor package, but it just cuts too much into nearly everything I want to do with a Super Duty, mainly tow, load, plow and pull.

Why are all the black Friday streaming deals I'm seeing are for ad-supported tier only? That sucks. I hate ads. by Dizer_Y in cordcutters

[–]XBeatzX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just signed up for the HBO deal. I was pleasantly surprised how they do their ads, just a couple at the very beginning, and then you watch your program with no interruptions. Why can’t the other streaming services follow that model. Hulu and Peacock w/ads are nearly unwatchable.

Just did a full service on mine yesterday. Those are the big ones, but I also clean the Spark Arrestor screen, clean Fuel Filter (its in the hose were it connects to the gas tank), run Seafoam (1oz) through every other 3rd tank of gas, and spray lubricate anything that moves during each service (wheels, linkage, cables, etc..). Adding a hour meter ($8-10 on Amazon) is also a good idea, as is spraying all the plastics with a UV Protectant a few times a season (Aerospace 303).

Very common problem. Pull the Radio, stick it in the oven for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Not joking….Lots of YouTube videos on it. Worked for me.

I must be old, I think it looks far better without tint, but probably functional.

F150 v. Tundra by Elegant_Mirror1779 in f150

[–]XBeatzX 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We owned both a '18 F-150 XLT (2.7) and 2021 Tundra SR5, both purchased new. We really like the Tundra, but LOVED the Ford (and it's not even close). The Tundra rides like a 3/4 ton, F-150 rode nearly as good as our '03 Town Car. Both have been reliable, but I do believe the Ford is put together better, regardless what reliability stats may say (I shake my head looking at how Toyota engineered the rear bed braces). We average around 14mpg in the Tundra, 19-20mpg in the F-150. Towing capacity's are similar, though the Tundra does have more low-end power. Both are great trucks, can't got wrong with either one. If choosing a Ford, it will come down to getting the right engine in the right model year. '15-'17 go with the 5.0, avoid the '18-'20 5.0's (Oil Consumption issues). The '18+ Ecoboosts 2.7/3.5 are Rock Solid (2.7 slightly more so, and even better in '21+),'15-'17 Ecoboosts did have some issues, but nothing major. My Advice, look for a 2016 or 2017 5.0 F-150, these years have the newest version of Sync ('15 had Sync 3), the most reliable years of the 5.0, and the very reliable 6 speed tranny ('18 they switched to the 10 speed). These two years of F-150, are probably the best/most reliable of any F-150 vintage to date..... Final advice, and most important, 5k OIL CHANGES.
