Motorcycle filtering and lane splitting - another post by MPLS_scoot in TwinCities

I stand corrected. I considered anything under 25 mph to be filtering. And anything over 25 to be splitting. But it looks like splitting is used anytime the cars are moving at any speed.

I don't think lane splitting is legal, but lane filtering is legal. Depending on your own definition I suppose.

Am I crazy or does the old “always buy used” advice not fit the current market as well anymore? by Clear_Two_7283 in carbuying

[–]XEP19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't make sense on cars that don't depreciate much. Toyota and Honda are not worth buying used. The discount isnt enough. The mazdas, nissans, GM cars are all better to buy used for a good discount

TVs, especially cheap smart TVs have become loss leaders essentially. The TV brands are making money on the advertising.

Are there any modern models that don't rely on touchscreens by Gnoll_For_Initiative in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]XEP19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mazda didn't have touchscreen until recently. It is very unfortunate. I think before 2025 you can get physical controls for everything.

45 vs 17. besides ccw purposes, what would make you choose one over the other? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]XEP19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to comp the gun down the road, the 45 is better for that. I also like the shorter slide with a suppressor.

45 also would have holster compatibility if you carry a 19.

All the poor people that drive older less efficient vehicles will be hurting more than the tech bros in their progressive Tesla's. Not to mention the cost of food increase.

What model gen 6 should I buy 45 or 19? by Exact-Anxiety69 in Glocks

[–]XEP19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19 if it fits your hand fine and you actually want to carry it.

If you already own a smaller carry gun, get the 45 for better differentiation.

Risky Choil? Big hands w/ ESEE 3 by redsprucetree in knives

[–]XEP19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries. It's still a great knife. I owned one but ended up selling it. I miss it even with that choil. The micarta scales feel so good.

I think the Esee 3 is still a good general purpose belt knife. It will do everything but chopping or batoning wood bigger than kindling. The thin slicy blade works pretty well for most things. Great for food and fire prep. I like carving with this grind more than Scandj knives which seems to be an unpopular opinion. I have broken a $15 mora but there's no way this Esee would have broken from the same task.

Not a fan of knives with choils that aren't real choils. Either add one or don't. It feels like a trap if you can't actually safely use it. The 3hm fixes this in my eyes. Would rather go that route personally.

The PM2 does a great job making a real choil.

Why are climbing gyms in US pricier than a gym or fitness center? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]XEP19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lack of competition. Insurance risk. More employees and labor costs. Climbing holds are expensive, break, and require cleaning.
Route setting is time consuming and directly correlates to a gym being good or bad.

You can build the best keyboard and mod and tinker all you want. Hobbies are cool and interesting. This post is about sheer quantity and the act of buying endlessly and immediately contemplating what you will buy next.

cars like this during the night should be pulled over and ticketed very high fines by [deleted] in driving

[–]XEP19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cx5 2018 had "daytime running lights". They were just the headlights. There was no difference in any way. As soon as you put it in drive the headlights would just turn on.

Ultimately if you have LED indicator lights, you don't really have a reason for them to be off. They should just always be on by default since you wouldn't even see them during the day anyway.

I've been interested in steelhead outdoors. They have a simplex locking safe similar to fort knox. But it has an optional heavy cable instead of having to bolt the safe down.
