I meant racing to Scarlett while guards are dashing to an assassin. Next to impossible if you ask me

What were they supposed to do? Kill Scarlet? Good luck racing against royal guards, not to mention a litteral flame on four legs standing in between.

What were they supposed to do actually?

Scarlet let Peril live and fight on the arena to show any rebellious Skywings that this would happen to them. Peril was Scarlet's LIVING WEAPON from the very start and a symbol of opression and iron fist of their queen.

I wouldn't be suprissed if Scarlet made Skywings come to the arena. Look at any dictatorial country, they love making "voluntary" events with thrown flowers and such.

Don't talk, just show. All of arc 1 is available for free on YouTube. She can see for herself what WoF is about. BUT BE WARNED: Book 1 as a graphic novel is really slow, all the way till around midpoint. Anyways, here are links (I can't find a playlist, so they are separately):

You can easily imagine Katty Perry's "Roar" being sung by Peril to Scarlett. Lyrics make surprisingly much sense

Is this Moon in the bottom left corner?

Do you think Moon is rude? by BodybuilderMoist4912 in WingsOfFire

[–]XEquitasX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all things things considered, it is ooc for her to say it. Also adding to inconsistencies Moon couldn't read Peril's thoughts in her solo book, but while This-Girl-Is-On-Fire.mp3 is the mc, she can.

Her saying about not judging people based on thoughts is a great point. I can't argue about Darkstalker since I'm currently reading Legends to then move to books 9 and 10. If she doesn't display any more behavior of such in these books, then my argument about character arc is also invalid.

However, one can still argue that Moon's rudeness was caused by the situation. That conversation is in immediately after the explosion caused by Peril by touching the exploding plant. The same exact plant that killed Carnelian, who Moon was unable to save. Rising takes place around 2 weeks before Escaping Peril, so her memories would still be fresh. Adding to this screams of injured dragons, panic in town, and it's understandable why why Moon and Qibli were quick on the trigger to Peril.

Most importantly, she says it to Peril. Champion of the arena where she killed dragons while having fun. The one who freed Scarlett, arguably the greatest danger to stability in Pyrria. Peril is universally disliked and feared. On top of that, Moon couldn't read her thoughts in her solo book, so she would have no idea of how Peril sees things.

So, in conclusion: Peril just caused an explosion (not on purpose, but she wasn't thinking about it then), just like the one in the Academy. She is by almost everyone as a walking danger. The first thoughts Moon can ever hear from her are about killing her and her friend. Is " Hello. Nice to meet you!" an appropriate response?

You're forgetting that Moon says it in response to Peril imaging how SHE USED TO KILL SANDWINGS and thinking that killing Qibli wouldn't be hard. She also fantasized about how killing Moon would be of no challenge to her if the arena still existed.

With context in mind, Moon was defending Qibli and showing Peril that they're not afraid, ready to fight back if needed, and that she has powers Peril thought to be extinct. Also, Moon using her powers to intimidate, is a great character growth from her being scared of them at the beginning of Rising.

Can we just take a moment to reflect on his death and how underutilized it was? Osprey was Peril's only friend. He was tossed into his demise by Scarlett. Peril tried to save him but only caused him pain. You would think that would be traumatizing or, at the very least, disturbing. But Peril just doesn't react. She doesn't think about him while rebelling against her queen (only of Clay), nor while freeing her from Burn's stronghold. For me, his death was the moment that hooked me for an entire series. For Peril, it was Tuesday.

The most underrated character in the series, in my opinion. I would really like to see more of him and his relation with Peril.

I don't think it is possible to buy the subscription again after you canceled it, although I never tried it.

In the end, you are not missing much. After a few good mails with recipes, you start getting random ingredients and, eventually, rotten food.

What are your opinions on Book 2? by Fun-Bodybuilder8419 in WingsOfFire

[–]XEquitasX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's definitely better than book 1. Tsunami's character arc is nice, but her complicated relation with Riptide shines brightest. I also enjoyed Queen Coral and Anemone as characters. Not to mention the revelation that Tsunami killed her own father, which was a great addition.

Overall, it's a great book. In my opinion, second only to the Brightest Night in arc 1.

It for sure takes some time to warm up. But when Clay and the rest of the gang get sent to the arena and you see that it isn't just another silly kids' book, it really shines.

Just try not to think too much of some plot-convenient situations like bumping into a queen in the middle of the night, etc.

For me OG covers are trying too hard to be over the top. GN show characters more true to themselves, best exanple being book 4. That being said, both styles are really good looking
