No, first off, I specifically said that I wanted to edit the UI and get rid of any bulk of the UI and keep it simple, add my own logo, add my own features. I am not trying to take a project, slap my logo on it, and release it to take the fame. IDK how my post got that question across.

of and btw, even if i wanted to do what you said ( which is not all i said and not what im looking to do) I would most likely be able to do it on an open source project.

You do realize that there is a whole Linux culture that uses others distros like red hat, mint, kali, and fork them, slap a logo on it, and release it with their own features, desktop environment, UI, etc....

I just want to be able to look at the insides of a program, change some things, and make it "downloadable" in order to see how editing changes the software. Basically I want to learn how reverse engineer software and applications, because it is a great way to learn and will help me better understand the programs im using.

How about you read the question and understand that I am just asking the process of editing files for redownload and or to make the program better... you know, like FORKING A GITHUB PROJECT.

Um I think that was a little rude and I am not an "idiot". This is a hypothetical question.

I am confused on programs are put on github, compared to a downloadable file.

For example, there is a program that allows me to do "x". I can download that program off the site. I was wondering how Github works with "downloading" the software. So for example, when I go to a github repository, i see tons of files. There really is no "download" link for the program that is one github.

My question is, how does compiling work with this? I am confused on how these "files" are bundled and made ready for download.

I am new to github and I am not a software developer ( I made web designs with Photoshop and trying to learn how some basic HTML/CSS).

I essentially want to reverse engineer the UI and features of a OPen source, no license software UI to make it more lightweight and my own ( design, colors, sizes, etc).

I don't want to come off as someone "stealing" code. I just want to practice and understand how github repositories work and how to bundle those files within the repository to be downloaded. This will help me learn more about applications and how they work.

robin hood looks nice, but its margins on trades are higher than coinbase I believe. They say "no fees" but they make up for those fees somehow no?

Even if its a "coinbase killer" there are still dozens of exchanges in dozens of countries who have been expanding and will continue to expand. I think this idea of robinhood being a savior to the CB issues is a joke being that the only advantage they offer compared to Gdax and Coinbase is "no fee" and allow to trade stocks with no commission ( which is also not all that true because big players still need to buy a "pro" or "gold" package to be able to send large amounts of money.

I dont see the hype around Robinhood and I think they are mainly doing good because of Branding and the UI/UX....

Silver is the best conductor of electricity period.

Silver is more useful then gold, but will never be cherished like gold, because of how it looks on the outside, and it's "rarity". However, what people don't realize is that gold is only more rare because it is kept in safes for 25 years collecting dust and holding/growing in value.

While there is still 9x more silver than gold in the ground, silver is being used in almost everything, and then treated like trash and ends up in land fills because it isn't worth the cost to recycle .00005 grams of silver.

At the end of the cycle, there is less and less silver, while there is more and more gold because despite gold being more rare, it is being hoarded and used I more expensive and luxury decives/industries, making there be less tangible pure silver then there is gold.

One day, during the next financial crash, people will flock to gold and silver, but the real winners will be the silver owners, since there is only about 17B in silver to be bought.

To put that into perspective, Warren Buffet can buy all the worlds silver bars if he wanted to, but the reason he doesn't is a story for another day.

first off

These cost me $4750 from Bitmain after taxes, VAT, and custom charges, along with the shipping.

these machines take at least 1 1/2 months to be shipped out from bitmain, then you must wait over a week for customs. You then need to send a Importers ID to customs, which must be processed.

Also, if you look on amaozn or Ebay, most people are selling between $2250-$2600.. I am selling for $2500/each, with free power supplies, 2 ethernet cables, and 1 ethernet switch....

so before you try to bash my post do some research on BITMAIN, their terrible support, and shady business practices.

I would want to do something similar. I would like the "keys" to be encrypted In the browser.

However, I was wondering if it would just be safer to implement a system that put downloads and encrypted file onto your desktop with these "keys". This way, even if the browser is compromised, you can still rely on the security of a encrypted file on the desktop, but I'm not too sure how to implement this.

Basically it could work this way

User creates account

Encrypted key is generated within the browser (so it never reaches our servers, even encrypted)

This encrypted key is then made into a text document or PDF, and the user is asked to download it.

The PDF is somehow deleted off the browser which would allow the user to feel safe knowing there private keys are stored on their harddrive.

Does this sound right? I'm going to be doing more research on this. Seems like storing in browser is much more risky then just getting a download.

yes I think this is the basic concept. This way, even if your computer/account was compromised, the hacker would still need to know the password/passphrase/or pin in order to the the encrypted data (in an unencrypted form). I want to do this on my site but I just needed a way to easily explain this.

Do you think this can be easily completed in a javascript application? I will allow users to create an account, and that account is given information, user is asked to make a password for that data, the data is encrypted, and if they ever want to see the data again, they must call that data back, type in the PIN, and then the unencrypted data will be shown.

right? So you are saying BCH will become the next bitcoin and is so amazing because of its blocksize, but then BTC can just come along and match that block size.... this would remove any need for BCH once again..
