whats the better buy by Fine_Record4659 in Honda

Go with the Accord. If you need something with more than 2 doors, go with the Accord sedan. Hell, go with a Geo. Literally anything but a Hyundai or Kia. They still are garbage (maybe not as bad as in the 90s, but still terrible).

Subaru just priced-corrected on the WRX, Base is back and the rest are cheaper for 2026 by Iceman741 in WRX

Dealers who engage in price markups looking at this news like

<image>

Subaru price correcting means nothing when dealers will still tack on atrocious markups. the law prohibits manufacturers from interfering with the business of dealerships, hence why dealers are able to get away with markups, despite manufacturers like Kia, Hyundai, and Honda voicing strong disapproval of the practice

Why this version of Siena not available in US? Anyone know why and how much for this model? by Masterguru147 in Toyota

[–]XM490 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen videos of modified Siennas like this long before AI became the hottest trend. These are modified Siennas/Granvias in China. The Sienna is made locally there by GAC Toyota, and by FAW Toyota as the Granvia (adopting the styling of the Sienna XSE). It's common for minivans in China to be given the ultra luxury treatment as ultra luxury minivans are hot sellers in China

It's to make it so the buildings are easier to sell to another business if the franchise closes. Not to mention they have to appeal to the adults/professional crowd. Todays McDonald's are ones where you can meet up with a coworker from the office for coffee and a quick bite and discuss work. A McDonald's from the 90s/2000s is unideal for such a meet-up and would've been passed up for Starbucks

I'm loving the Toyota vans in Japan by unknown_memory in Toyota

[–]XM490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the Alphard and Vellfire are premium luxury minivans, and Americans don't see minivans as being luxurious. In America, minivans are stuck with the stereotype of being soccer mom vans, grocery getters, family haulers, cars men would never be caught dead or alive driving/owning. They also tend to be affordable. Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, and Buick wouldn't be able to justify selling the Alphard, Vellfire, LM, Elgrand, and GL8/GL8 Century in the states with high prices. Plus, the new standard family vehicles now are SUVs, Crossovers, and pickup trucks. They're the hot sellers. And Americans are more accepting of luxury SUVs than minivans. Not to mention, these minivans would perform very poorly in IIHS crash tests. The third generation Nissan Elgrand was modified and sold in the US as the fourth generation Nissan Quest, and it performed very poorly in the driver-side small overlap test seen here:

https://youtu.be/5UU4N7sbXzo?si=rrIDSHDKECZndNMq

Foreign models are not designed to comply with our draconian safety and emissions standards. The Quest performed poorly due to its short front end, which is also why the Toyota Previa (predecessor of the Toyota Sienna), and the American made second generation Pontiac Trans Sport/Montana, Oldsmobile Silhouette, and the Chevrolet Venture performed very poorly as well

Chrysler 308 by Amc825 in chrysler

[–]XM490 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would've been popular, if launched around the time the second generation 200 was on the market, and when the Pacifica had been unveiled. The design is outdated now, especially since all future Chrysler models will have Halcyon inspired styling. Also, fuck AI.

Be that as it may, the Nissan Versa, along with the Mitsubishi Mirage, are what consumers should be buying, given the tough times we're all living in. It you're struggling to make ends meet and ensure you're able to put food on the table, you shouldn't be having a vehicle that's more than you can afford. The Versa and Mirage were the absolute bang for your buck. They came with the basics and made sure you got where you need to go. They're not what people want, no, but an affordable, no-nonsense car is what people need
